Sleeves choice: Axio hardsleeve vs Booq vs Sfbags.

Durability and shock resistance is waht really matters for me here..

Guess the best way to carry MBP around will be to get the best sleeve and use the cheap back, to protect the MBP from thieves....

Which sleeve of the above mentioned is the best in terms of durability etc..?


Or should I get something more specifically advertised (don't want to become a victim of marketing) like Shinza.com?

I've got a sfbag and love it. I've had it for my PB since the beginning of 04 and it's been great. It's held up, and been all over the world with me. I use the sleeve with a regular back pack like you want to do.

shinza's ads sure make it look really nice.

i would personally skip over sfbags completely. it is overpriced, and it doesn't even have a handle. if your shoulders get tired, or if you need to move quickly without worrying about your laptop getting thrown around, you're out of luck. you either use the shoulder strap or nothing.

you can get a marware for almost half of the cost of a sfbags. and with the marware, you get a zippered full length pocket so you won't lose things. and a piggyback for sfbags? do you really want something that can get snagged or caught on something.

which booq are you thinking of? the xl90 powersleeves look nice. they have a handle as well, but again, pricey and hard to find.

Spizzo, can this Sfbags sleeve withstand some offence? I'm sure that my MBP will occasionally get occidentally kicked by some @$% during the metro ride...

I have an axio since a couple of years and I'm very happy with it. My powerbook 17" is well protected with the hard cover and I can take a lot more tuff with me than just my laptop and its gear.

the vyper is like a shell made out of a thin semi rigid sheet of plastic. it has no shock absorbing ability but it will protect from scuffs.

if you are looking for protection on the subway, you'll need something thicker with padding, like brenthaven. sfbags are too thin

Does anybody know what the quality & protection of the iskin SOHO is like?- it looks quite nice but have not heard a mention of it on these forums?

i think macnn did a review of the soho skin and i think they said it was like hard leather.

I can second this opinion, the axio laptop case has a hard shell with a custom fit interior to hold your computer securely. It will probably absorb a good deal of punishment before any damage occurs to the laptop inside. Get the hardshell along with the axio sling bag and you're all set. Axio makes an excellent product.
