It just seems so obtrusive and blunt. Lacks the subtlety of their other graphics. It doesn't really matter I guess...just an observation.

Maybe it existed before Apple adopted it. Is it Apple's, Pixar's????

i think it is an apple-designed technology in some kind of cooperation or endorsement by Pixar. it strikes me as natural, very "hollywoodish," like some kind of funny banner, almost 20s or something in style. even has the star to boot. i guess it is unapple and flashy in a way, but obtrusive? nahhhh....

Agreed. And the name is goofy, too.

Almost sounds like piglet. Was expecting to see an icon of a pig.

i don't know, i think it could be ok. i think alot of the intial "cheese" of it comes from seeing it on a black background. i think it would look cool in a transparency, quirky but cool. it's supposed to look like the titling and graphics you see at the movie theater at the beginning, which always tend to live on the cheezy side of the street. i think the whole vibe is very intentional. as for the name, i'm not really feeling it.

why give a codec a logo? are you going to build brand recognition for a codec with a logo (and a bad one at that?). this thing looks like an afterthought.
