According to macmate.org:
According to the ones that got the BETA of the upcoming OS for the macintosh users (Leopard), there are some explinatipons to why the leaked version isnt out yet, well at least on public trackers. Apple has handed out several copyright agreements, witch could lead to some "serious charges " witch makes "just uploading" a terrible risk to take while your IP could easily be tracked by the Apple guys. Few hours after the Beta was handed out at WWDC07, the leak was out at Demonoid.com and quickly vanished, so did the uploader. However, to the ones that cannot wait any longer, its coming. Trust us.
Looks like the pirates are getting less and less seeds. We'll see.

Don't worry. When there's a will there's a way.

You would be running the risk of getting caught if you downloaded it.

Stacks of man points to the initial seeders though- it takes some balls to be one of the first seeders. :p Rather them than me...

It'll get out there eventually. Me? I'm going to wait for the final release...no desire, really, to run the beta ahead of time.

The irony is that there'll then be threads on here with titles like:

It's a civil matter, not a criminal matter. You may become bankrupt, but you won't be raped in a cold prison cell. So it's not that bad; upload away.

What does your dad do to warrant going all that way, at great expense, for WWDC?

and i know some people want to try a BETA, but the real question is, why? why go thru all the trouble of getting it, staying under the radar, installing, and dealing with the multitude of bugs im sure that exist.

Maybe you could do a video clip...or just show pics of some features. *shrugs* I am wondering if they just took the Macintosh HD of the desktop by default, and the option is still there to add it, or it's gone for good. Hopefully preview has some changes as well such as a lot better full-screen.

I've played with seeds in the past and regretted it. When Apple says beta they mean not ready for prime time. Release versions OTOH, are always rock solid.

who would install a leopard beta if you can get it as an ADC member anyway or you just wait for 3 month and you buy the final version for a few bucks or borrow the dvd's if you're cheap. pirating a os x beta makes no sense.

i'm gonna wait till 10.5.2 or .3 anyway.

Or you could just wait a few months for the final release. Who would have thought it was so simple.

Bragging rights, I would think. At least 10.5.1 for me.

Where there's a will there's 200 lawyers also.

When there's 200 lawyers, there's millions of P2P users downloading and seeding all over the world, and a leak that can't even be traced back to one individual who went to WWDC ;)

uh huh. considering that these are so devs can use all the cool leopard only tech to write apps for leopard that'll be ready by the release date..

Something tells me that it's entirely possible to trace who did what when you're the only seeder on a huge torrent on a **** public site full of idiotic leechers like demonoid.

i would like the leopard beta to do a little application testing on with my program im developing, unfortunately us smaller developers cant always get the time or money to attend WWDC.

Why do they care so much anyway? I mean, there are tons of OS X images out there and nobody really does anything, and it's not like we don't know (well, not anymore) about the features it has..

Only paying members, i.e. Select and Premier. Regular ADC members will not have access to the seeds.

Er, what other ADC members are there? There's only two paid ones and Student other than the free online one everyone's got to get xcode. Apple has never given seed access to any other group than the two paid ones and only student devs that go to WWDC.
