Web Design in OS X

I am new to web design, and I cannot find any web design applications for OS X. I want a layout WYSIWYG editor, that will also allow me to directly insert my own html code. I have the OS 9 version of Adobe PageMill, and it works great IN OS 9. Is there any program like that for OS 10?? Thank you,

Two major apps are Adobe Golive and Macromedia DreamweaverMX - both are wysiwyg and work reasonably well. FlashMX is another good tool if you're doing heavy interactivity/animation.

Don is right on. There are actually even more but DreamweaverMX or GoLive are great choices.

If you don't want ANY wysiwyg, or can't afford GoLive or Dreamweaver, then you can use BBEdit.

Go with Dreamweaver MX... you can use wysiwyg and code view to build and edit pages. There are a ton of extensions available on Macromedia's site so your development ideas are supported. There is a lot of room to expand also...I use this on a daily basis with over 50 web sites.

Count my vote for Dreamweaver MX and the entire Studio MX package. Dreamweaver and Fireworks are amazing programs and super easy to learn and use, esp. in OS X. Flash is awesome, but the learning curve is a bit up there when it comes to ActionScript and such. And Freehand is nice - opens lots of graphic formats and its group editing capabilities are the bomb.

Definitely go with dreamweaver mx... I've used both GoLive and dreamweaver, and dreamweaver is much better.

Good to hear Dreamweaver seems to be the choice here. I use Dreamweaver (and am not a professional by any means) and had not had the chance to try GoLive. Dreamweaver was pretty easy to learn for a newbie and is well supported. The rest of the Studio software integrates nicely as well.

And another for DWMX, but I find myself using it more and more as a layout guide, and then doing the bulk of my work in BBEdit.

That's what lots of PHP work will do to you. ;)

i do this stuff for a living and i've used both DW and GoLive. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but i'd say use Dreamweaver since it's sort of becoming the de facto standard for web designers.

another vote for dreamweaver!...the great thing is that its great for newbies and when you get more advanced it grows with you...I started using it by chance and when I started to learn all these other things like data base and Xml and some other more complicated things I was happy to find that it was pretty much the best app out there to help me! Studio MX is great!

I agree with Rower_CPU. Been using DreamWeaver for 5 years or so. Program can't be beat. I use it for the intial layout but then switch to hand coding in BBEdit.

However, ColdFusion is my flavor for scripting. Guess I'm a MacroMedia junkie.
