hey everyone,

my parents are buying me a new mac for gradution. they tell me they want to buy me a macbook pro. but i keep teetering on that or the macbook. im afraid the mbp wont be as portable as im hoping. and then i think the macbook screen will be too small. im a graphic designer so the screen size would be appreciated, but i then said i would just buy a display for the macbook. i went to go place my order for the macbook, but bailed because now i think a mbp would be better. and that if i wanted screen space when im away from the display, the macbook wouldnt be pleasant. so now im stuck and cant decide. so can someone convince me to get the mbp?

get a MacBook Pro. did that convince you?

But really if you want the Pro go for it.

Since you're a Graphic Designer, you'll definitely want to get a Matte screen and that option is only available on the MacBook Pro. Also the MacBook Pro is less than half a pound heavier than the MacBook, so you shouldn't notice much of a difference. The extra resolution and screen space is more than worth it for a Graphic Designer.

Portability? It's pretty much exactly the same as all the other 15 inch laptops if you've seen any..

im a graphic designer so the screen size would be appreciated, but i then said i would just buy a display for the macbook.

I spent a whole year and a half doing my architecture projects on a 12" iBook screen and just about shot myself. I upgraded to the 15" MBP and life has gotten much better. I have a friend who does graphic design on a MacBook and he now wishes he got the bigger screen. If you want the portability, at least spend the extra money on a large screen to have at home... But then you'll spend the same amount as the MBP...
