Okay, so I'm guessing a lot of us are going to end up broke in the next few months. I just wanted to get an idea of what people are going to spend.

Launch Day:
- $599 + tax for iPhone
- $129 (maybe?) for iPhone Bluetooth Headset
= ~ $790

Per Month:
- $39.99 calling plan
- $8.00 for 7pm nights
- $9.99 for unlimited messaging (if available)
- $39.99 for data (going by current rate)
- $8.00 for Canada text messaging package (for my girlfriend)

Wow.... thats a lot....

I'm with Cingular, and I spend $9.99 for 400 text messages a month and 1 MB of data. I doubt they'll give away unlimited text messaging for just $9.99 a month. If the data plan does end up being $30-40, though, then unlimited text messaging should be included with it.

And yes, I'm sure it'll add up and be fairly expensive. That's what you get for being on the cutting edge (or bleeding edge) of technology. :)

I would just save the Bluetooth headset for now, they will likely be tons of those and its not like they would go out of stock anyways (like the iphone will probably). Then maybe you wont have to rob a bank or something with that huge total!

ONE MILLION DOLLARS! (Does the Doctor Evil pose)

Actually, more like a 1000$ for anyone who can send me a contract free iPhone to Europe.

I think like most people, I'm not bothered my initial cost of the iPhone. If the devices does everything Apple has displayed and does it well then I'll consider it money well spent. The rate plan is going to make it or break it for me.

My wife and I have a family plan with Cingular/AT&T already and my contract has been up for nearly a year. Right now between the two of us we pay about $100 on our monthly bill.

Honestly, I see the iPhone unlimited data plan being at ~$40 which I'd honestly have to think about seriously before signing up for. From what I can tell the Cingular unlimited data plans don't include unlimited text messages which I find absolutely ridiculous. So if I have to pay my regular minutes (~$59) + $40 for EDGE data + $20 for unlimited text messages... well, them I'm out. I'd really like to have an iPhone, but $120 for just my phone won't be an option for me.

I figure about $850 by the time all is said and done with the phone, depending on available and wanted accessories at the time. Would like the BT headset, but would really prefer a headphone style set that also works with the phone portion. I really don't want to have to switch ear pieces. May or may not get a case depending on how functional the available ones are.

As far as the monthly, don't care, like the iPhone, it is what it is. My BB runs me $130+ after taxes and such, so I'm used to it.

The monthly charge is what is going to kill this deal for me. I don't understand it how AT&T can get away with charging that much in this day and age.

$40 for EDGE is pricey and then that doesn't include text messages? Why? They are very short bursts of data. Unbelievable.

I currently pay $67 (total, taxes included) with T-Mobile for 1000 minutes and unlimited Blackberry everything (email, texts, internet, 3rd party apps data.)

I'm hoping they bundle it all into 2 or 3 different packages which vary only by the number of minutes and include unlimited data and texting.

This is my best guess as well. I am expecting bundles...

Over $1000 once I've taken into account accessories and my sprint cancellation fee...wow, I'm an idiot.

$0. My wife's Docomo has better features and a much better payment plan than the iPhone.
They wouldn't break even launching that thing in Japan.

Just wondering why you keep posting in so many threads about how you're not going to buy the phone. We get it. If you don't want it, don't buy it. no need to post your feelings all over the place when people are trying to genuinely discuss their interest in the phone.

The question was "how much do you plan on spending on launch day and per month ?"

So, on June 29th, I don't really plan on spending anything unless I decide to go to Jack in the Box by work for lunch. Kind of a last minute decision usually. Maybe I'll need gas. But right now, I don't plan on spending anything. Nor do I plan on adding anything else to my monthly phone bill. I answered the question

And you're smart enough to know that if everyone who wasn't getting an iPhone answered the question, then it would be a huge thread of 'nothing' posts. You just have some kind of weird desire to post how much you hate the iPhone and you aren't going to get it.

Why waste your time posting that kind of stuff? What do you get out of it?

The headset won't be anywhere near $100. Closer to $50 maybe. It looks super simple, and BT headsets are worth nothing these days.

Remember the iPod leather case that Apple expected people to buy for $100? That was super simple too. I bet the BT headset will cost $129.

$1600+?

4GB iPhone
8GB iPhone
2 Cases
Maybe a few other accessories.

I already have Cingular, and 1100 Minutes shared (i think?) a month.

And we were going to cut that down, so the monthly charge won't be much difference for us.

I've been saving just for the iPhone since i heard about it. I have a lot of trust in the iPhone.

Yes, very badly. Its going to be at least 2 or 3 more years until its under control.
