I just bought an 800Mhz ibook and I'm hoping to pick up a combo drive for it. (Not currently an option on the 800Mhz model and I didn't want to spend another $300 just to get the combo drive.) I've got a firewire CDRW already but it'd be nice to have the option of burning the occasional CD when I'm not at home.

I'll go $100 shipped for a guaranteed working ibook combo drive (white to match standard equipment) and pay via paypal within hours. More than $100 and I'll want to wait a few days and see if I can find a better deal.

hope your not installing it, because by the time you open it, and take all the parts to an authorized apple dealer and have them put it back together taht 300 dollars for the upgraded ibook will look pretty good.

Hardeeharhar. ;)

Give me some credit for knowing what I'm doing. I've disassembled, fixed, and reassembled hardware just as intricate as an ibook many times. :D

Well OK then, this mod WILL void your waranty big time. And taking apart an iBook is not easy trust me I worked on the original iBook project and I have broke many. But Good Luck and more power to ya. P.S Tell me if it will play a DVD without the decoder.
