Apparently God just recently upgraded himself to Web 2.0 but he isn't compatible with AJAX. He also is going to drop his DRM soon and increase his own bit rate. Should be due out in about 6... probably 7 days.

Its pretty simple as to why there is so much bashing.

Everyone wants it. Not everyone can get it. That makes people hate it. Very Very VERY SIMPLE.

Even though more people can actually afford it than they realize.

Steve Jobs made the clear and concise point during the original keynote when he showed where the price came from. Most people go out and pay somewhere between 150 - 400 for some kind of phone, whether it be crap or smart phone. Those same people buy iPods. And they don't all buy $199 nanos. Many of them bought $249 nanos. Many bought $299 iPods.

The point is, people are uncomfortable with spending all their money on one thing at one time. They feel like they get more for less if they buy more than one "thing" over time.

Well, never before has a product such as this existed. This is clearly not ONE thing, it is, at a minimum, 3 things.

Well worth the price. Way ahead of its time.

I don't want it. I can get it. I just bought a $500+ phone and could buy another $500+ phone if I really wanted to. I bash the iPhone for many reasons, no Flash, no 3rd party app, AT&T, etc, but it's not because I can't get the iPhone. I don't want the stupid thing.

You are also an incredibly bad example of someone. The things you bash the iPhone over are so pathetic and truly make you look stupid. Not stupid...petty actually. Petty, materialistic...and yea, stupid.

i think his reasons are valid for not wanting it. The reasons he doesnt' want it arent a big deal to me, but may be to him. you're kind of making yourself look pathetic and stupid right now to be honest...(for the record, i still don't agree with him posting it all over the place though).

Just for the hell of it, I'll refute your points so that they no longer even exist:

1. No flash - Who cares? This will not change anyone's Safari usage experience. Most implementations of Flash have alternate content... which is superior to all implementations of Flash! Flash is truly archaic and completely unnecessary in the modern web world (find some books on CSS). In a few years it will be gone... the iPhone will not.


2. 3rd Part Apps? - No thanks. Nothing like the iPhone has ever been developed and I do not want other companies making buggy apps for it when it has been developed to work perfectly out of the box with everything and more than anyone could possible want from a phone. FROM A PHONE!


3. At&t - Apple is nothing if not incredibly serious about product integrity. They are not going to introduce any product that works universally everywhere. The reason is: Everywhere is GARBAGE, which is why Apple exists in the first place. They make products that are above the 3rd rate consumer world. They also do not want their products associated with ANY 3RD RATE SERVICE PROVIDERS, or really outside the spectrum of their control. More than one provider creates competition against themselves and that makes absolutely no sense. Why At&t? Number 1 wireless provider in the U.S.

i'm not agreeing or disagreeing with your points (i dont' wanna get in involved in this argument again). but i think had you gone about your response this way in the beggining instead of calling someone stupid, you may have gotten a better response. i know, not really my place, but just my thoughts.
