With many games coming to the Mac, I could guess that, yes, there is a possibility. But normally MBP and iMac are hand-to-hand.

Not necessarily. The iMac 24" has an nVidia 7300 card whereas the MBP of the previous gen had a Radeon X1600.

Furthermore, the iMac cards are MXM cards based on desktop chipsets whereas the MBP cards all all laptop chipsets.

Well nobody can give you an exact date but it seems likely that they will come with the next imac update later this summer.
