Sims 2 freezes during load...help?

My sister was playing sims 2 on her emac last night it was working fine, the next day when she tried to start it up it refuses to load the neighborhood she was playing in. Specifically it loads two bars and then freezes.

Trying to figure out the problem i've noticed a couple of strange things, trying to launch the game from the disc, it gives me the message that it wont load because the game needs at least 1 mb of free space no idea what thats about. If I open the game from the dock then it comes up but the Veronaville wont load.

Any advice would be appreciated.

i know what you mean and i have had the same trouble on my macbook with the sims 2 and to fix it i lowered the graphics quality and it did not freeze and don't worry it doesn't make any difference to the quality of gameplay.

well i lowered my graphics and turned off optimized graphics and it still freezes at the beginning! I NEED HELP!!!! PLZ :apple:
