I hope I'm in the right forum for this. I'm fairly new to the mac so everything is so different! Here's the problem: I turned on my computer today and ALL of my music is gone. I had about 1000 songs from cds that i don't even have anymore. So I'm a little sad at the moment. I tried going back to look in my itunes music folder and there isn't anything in there. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

I actually am. Only a few. Everything was set to default mode after I rebooted. I didn't have a document folder or movies folder in my Finder window either.

Did you by chance rename your home folder? The name next to the house on the left hand side of the finder window?

what is a short name?

The name that appears next to the house, essentially it's the short version of your user name. It is also the name of the folder in /Users/ that contains all your files.

If you tell me what your house name was called and what you changed it to I can give you customized instructions as to how to fix your problem.
