Unit self powering on

if my mbp is off and i connect it to the power adapter, it all of a sudden powers on. why is this? also when its on sleep, it will sometimes turn on all of a sudden. is there some setting in system prefs that i have 2 switch off.

please help:apple:
 
No, it shouldn't be behaving like that. Hopefully you don't have a dodgy battery or adaptor. Try resetting your SMC and see if the problem persists. If it does, you might have to take it back to Apple. 😱
 
As far as the power adapter, I'm pretty sure that shouldn't happen.

As far as just randomly waking from sleep, there is a Bluetooth preference that wakes it up from sleep if there's a connection made (it says your mouse or keyboard, but there have several people that said any Bluetooth device could wake it up randomly). So I'd turn that option off and see if that helps the random wake-ups.
