Lenox is crowded on a regular day... you might as well go to north point or perimeter right off the bat.
Were I to buy one friday, I'd be down at north point.

Perimeter like what?!? I guess there is an advantage to working in Sandy Springs after all. Now the real challenge is getting the iPhone to supplant the functions of my Crackberry.

I would be in line with y'all (we can use that word in this thread!) but my wife and I are headed out to Hawaii in a couple of days. I hope to go to one of the stores in Hawaii on the 29th and pick up one!
From a volume of people perspecive, AT&T stores will be a better place to go since there are so many of them in Georgia. But, from a customer service perspective, I expect Apple to have POS down to a science and be able to move units much faster. Plus, Apple reportedly will not be handing AT&T contracts. AT&T could bog down each transaction with contract details.

ATT stores are closer to me. Confirmed by phone that the local store will have phones in stock on Friday. But they said to plan on waiting in line. So I will be there about 1:00.:apple:

I'm thinking the three Atlanta Apple Stores are going to be much more mobbed (relatively speaking of course) than the AT&T Stores....anyone think differently? The key is to find an out-of-the-way AT&T Stores that will actually have sufficient inventory.

I am still deciding where to go....
Apple stores= lines with AC.
AT&T stores = less people.
Probably going to do Perimeter Apple Store....Still not sure how early though.
I can't see this thing being as bad as the wii was this Christmas, but it still seems like its going to get crazy.....

Did anyone figure out which ATT stores will carry the iPhone? I thought I read that the storefront would have the ATT logo as opposed to Cingular. Every place I've checked around N Druid Hills area still has the Cingular logo.

They started rebranding the cingular store off of Perimeter for a few weeks to a at&t store. Right now they are working out of a double-wide trailer they brought in. Not sure if it is supposed to be finished by Friday or not. If it isn't that should be fun.

I didn't know they had one at North Point. That one is the closest one to me, if I decided to go to work that day. Might be there. If not I will try either the at&t trailer or the Perimeter Apple store.

Gooooooooooo Woodstock! Per the "find a store" link on AT&T's site, the closest one for us will be on Barrett Parkway. Drop a message back here if the store on 92 will actually have them. I could *almost* walk there...
At this point, I'm still probably going to wait a while to purchase one unless I can sway the wife into a family plan.

For everyone else: the AJC business section listed where you can find an iPhone store by city.

Well, yes, I could (and would) walk 2.5 miles for an iPhone. With the weather we are having lately, I doubt that I would choose to. I'll bet Barret will have them. Oh that place will be a mad house though...

Just a heads up, there's an AT&T store across the street from Lenox Mall (Where there is an Apple Store). My plan is to head there if the Apple store runs out or it too crowded.
I've made a small reference map (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=33.843584,-84.361573&spn=0.002375,0.005021&t=k&z=18&om=1&msid=106342964052022723210.000001136f4df76e4b3d6) pointing out that distance/location of the AT&T store in relation to the Apple store inside the Mall. Hope it helps someone. (Google maps rocks)

If the hype in smaller GA cities is anything like the Wii, prepare to be disappointed. I was able to snag a Wii from a Gamestop in Brunswick shortly after launch, but haven't seen one in Savannah since. I think Savannah in particular has strong SCAD presence coupled with poor technology stock (limited quantities of new, hot items) which leads to "big city" supply issues. Finding the new hot item is tough in Savannah b/c stores normally receive just a few of each item. I surely hope the iPhone is different. If they are all gone, I'll just order on apple.com. :apple: :D

I was wondering the same thing. There are three Alpharetta locations that are going to have the phone..But this is the really interesting thing: The Kiosk in the Northpoint will ALSO carry the iPhone in addition to the Apple Store of course.. And then there's an ATT location in Duluth (about 15 mins away) Statebridge and Medlock (in the Home Depot shopping center). I'm actually surprised at how few locations are selling the phone in Atlanta..

Stood in line at the Savannah, GA store today (Hodgsen Memorial). Arrived at 5:15, about 70 ppl ahead of me. Manager kept saying the 8gb cutoff was very close to me. I was sure I wouldn't make the cut, at 7:15, finally entered the store. The cashier asked me which model I wanted, said 8gb. Another employee came from the stock room with a box, set it on the register table, and said:
"Wow, this is the last 8gb. It's like you got the golden ticket or something."
I said "shhh," paid, and exited immediately.
Sorry to everyone who was behind me. Someone had to do it.
