My little brother has decided to go Mac :D ... again!

His HP constantly has random shutdowns and refuses to power up for a while, so HP will give him an exchanged one, that he will sell for a Mac. Specs are:

HP Pavilion DV2000t
AMD 64bit processor
HP Imprint Finish
Integrated webcam + microphone
14" widescreen glossy display
Windows Vista Home Premium
120GB HDD
1GB RAM
Will be a refurbished, I'm sure.

Unless someone makes a good offer here and has PayPal, he just wants to know what he could get for it so he can sum up how much he'd have to save for his new MacBook.

Thanks!

isn't the DV2000t the intel version and the DV2000v the AMD?

in any case, an intel model (and the amd turions are definitely no match for core chips) costs about 800 new for the base model, so I'll go out on a limb here and say you won't get more than $650 on here (although i suppose it's unlikely anyone here wants such a machine) or $700 on ebay, although I didn't bother searching on ebay for you.

I got confused. Not my laptop anyways, so I don't really know....or care

I don't think MR allows members to sell things for other people.

I could be wrong.

Well, I said I'm not really interested in selling. He just wants to know how much he'd get for it like on eBay or something.

Then why don't you, no offense meant, just search for it on eBay.

Okay, so his brother has to give it to him for the sale to work. Whatever. Don't be a stickler like that.

Word. I completely understand the friend/neighbor thing, but by his name "classof2011" and he said "little brother" it's safe to assume they sleep under the same roof....

I agree with the general consensus...I wouldn't expect much more than $600.

I can't stand it when people mention that rule. If you are that worried about it, I'm sure his brother just gave him the laptop for free and he's going to sell it and out of the kindness of his heart, all the money he gets from it he will give to his brother. Just to be nice!;)
