I just uploaded a some pics from my D-Lux 2 (Jpeg+Raw). Oddly enough all the formats seem to supported by iPhoto. I haven't noticed it before. Did it come with 10.4.10?

Support for raw formats came in with iLife '05. Support for your camera is new with 10.4.10.

RAW format support is not actually being determined by iPhoto - it is OS-wide and gets a facelift with almost any minor point upgrade to OS X.
You might notice that Preview.app can now read your raw files too.

Support for RAW images is built into Core Image. All apps that use it inherit it's support for the various image formats.

Strictly speaking, RAW support is handled by the ImageIO framework. It's relatively easy to use ImageIO with CoreImage though.
