What do an iPhone and HDTV have anything to do with one another?

A Macbook Pro or a car?
An ice cream cone or a pen?
New shoes or a haircut?

ha! what a rediculous thread.

umm i'd go with the apple tv. i think it's a happy medium. i think it satisfies a little of both...

1.) you need an hdtv to use it.
2.) it's a new trendy apple product.

tho i guess you can't really watch it without your hdtv nor can it make phone calls.

still... comparing an orange v. a watermelon

I say all three... NO... all five... go buy an orange and a watermelon to eat while watching your HDTV with AppleTV hooked up to it and talking on your new iPhone.

I guess you didn't understand his question for some reason. But if I had to choose from your list.... I would pick the car since I already have a MacBook Pro (hopefully not a car for the same price as a MBP though) then the ice cream, but not for the same price as the pen.

Then lastly the new shoes... but I could use a haircut.

I can answer that question for you as much as you can answer my deliberation between having Chinese or Italian for lunch.

How can people not realize the topic creator is debating whether to purchase one or the other?

Personally, I'd go for the iPhone. It's much more innovative that an HDTV. HDTV is much more like the TV you already have than the iPhone is to the phone you already have.

It is not really a fair comparison. They are two completely different devices. I would not waste $600 on a mediocre, small sized HDTV. Save up a few grand for a nice model or get an iPhone.

My brother got a Vizio 32" LCD HDTV for 600 bucks. It's an awesome TV.

If I were like that, it would make sense that I come to the iPhone forum, interest in the product.

Why do you keep coming in here?

I say HDTV. Once you go HD you don't go back.

Of course it always depends on you... but I just purchased an HDTV last fall, and if I did it again, I'd go with my decision to get an inexpensive phone (magenta RAZR) and an LCD HDTV over an expensive phone, iPhone or not, in a heartbeat. I've enjoyed watching TV so much more ever since I got this. It's as if DVDs even are re-born, they look so much better on an LCD than on an SDTV. And my phone? Well, it still puts up with me talking for 1.5 or 2 hours a night with my girlfriend. :p

HDTV.

No 2-year contract.

Won't lose its allure after a week.

Won't fall out of your pocket one day and make you cry.

And...

It has a LOT bigger screen :D

It's so small. Personally I wouldn't go any smaller than 37" for an HDTV. Well that and one with more than 1 component input. Oh, and I would so get a 1080P set. 720P sets are so yesterday!

HDTV and Iphone have one thing in common. They're both going to cost you more in the long-run.

Iphone - contract, data plan, overages, ect...
HDTV - price delta from "SDTV" in your cable / satellite plan.

I think you'll appreciate the HDTV longer - then again, I don't see a whole lot of greatness in any HDTV less than 40". Unless it was REALLY close or you have 12/12 vision.

On the flip side, Iphone does have the zing, and some of us need the zing.

I was thinking the same thing... Top of the line phone or bottom of the line TV.

I guess it depends on your priorities. Neither item is a need to have...

Sure, you could also buy everything including a 52-incher and go thousands of dollars into debt...=D

In fact why buy just one? I would get one for every room in your house.

:D My wife would shoot me if I did that. Although I am working on getting a 37" Westinghouse for the bedroom though.

I find it strange that a person that can afford any Apple product couldn't afford an HDTV. It seems like we are the target demographic for the technology.

Besides why would anyone want to watch Heroes (or even 300) in anything less than HD???
