Where will everyone be picking up their iPhone in Orange County? There are a hand full of Apple stores such as South Coast Plaza, Mission Viejo Mall, and Fashion Island. Yet I do not know the locations of the AT&T corporate stores.

Brea Mall
Irvine Spectrum
Fashion Island
Mission Viejo Mall
South Coast Plaza

There are also Apple Stores in Brea and at the Irvine Spectrum. If I remember right, those sites were mentioned often in the Southern California thread.

I think people are avoiding Fashion Island because they figure it's gonna be a spoiled rich-kid soirée and South Coast is usually packed, even without the iPhone launch.

I am still torn between the Apple Store at the Irvine Spectrum or the one at South Coast Plaza. Anyone else going to either one of these?

How about the AT&T stores? And when I am on their website, the ones that pops up on the google maps, are those corporate?

Yannik, hit up mission viejo for sure!
Think about it, it doesn't open till 10, so no overnight campers, and air conditioning.

personally i dont think rich spoiled kids have the patients to go super early and camp out or go WAY EARLY for this phone, thats usually to the hardcore and the ebay sellers.

that is unless they hire someone to wait.

Some...but probably not nearly the amount of trust fund kids that Fashion Island will have. Plus the Spectrum has a higher profile in the rest of OC, so there will be people from all over going to the Spectrum. Fashion Island is probably gonna just be people from that side of Irvine, Newport and Laguna Beach.

That side of Irvine...referring to Shady Canyon?

I meant that people near UCI/Turtle Rock or at work off of Jamboree might go to Fascist Island, while the Spectrum will probably safely get everyone on it's side of Jeffery or up north of the 5. The Shady Canyon crowd might be split between Fascist Island and the Spectrum. The people in Woodbridge and Westpark can probably choose whichever store they want store...Fashion Island, South Coast or the Spectrum...it's not a location thing for them, just a strategy game.

And Shady Canyon is not that many people compared to Newport, either.

That said...I'll probably drop by Fascist Island, if only so I can give each of the teenage girls in line there a tic-tac and listen to them all talk about how they need to throw up because they've never eaten so much their whole lives.

guys, this is south orange county and we're talking about a $500-$600 phone. anyone at an apple store on friday, including me, a rich kid, the spoiled part is debatable. for fifteen percent of americans the cost of an iphone is one-third of their monthly income.

having said that...

i wouldn't show up to the spectrum after 6pm on a friday, my god that place is full of little hoodlums and prosti-tots running around like some temporary, suburban, lord of the flies.

fascist island is usually less crowded and seems to attract an older crowd. i went there for tiger or panther, can't remember which.

the shops at mission viejo is always packed, but there's an at&t store across the street (interesting note, the average income of shoppers at mission viejo is higher than any other mall in south oc.)

having said that... i doubt there's a need for a line. i can't remember the last time an apple consumer product was sold out. personally i think i'm going to hit the store at 6/7 grab my phone set it up outside with my ancient laptop then grab dinner at roy's or gulfstream.

hrm, i wanna head to the mission mall too, but i was also thinking of hitting an ATT store by my house, i dunno which to choose. Id be less worried about getting one at applel, but id want an 8gig not a 4, and im sure id get one at ATT, but it would involve sitting outside the store under the sun the entire time. lets play savsies? hahaha.

This is probably off topic, as I'm not getting an iPhone...but I think it is sweet to see people here who live in the same area as me. I'm way to used to people living on the east coast(as is most of my gaming clan).

But to save this post...I'm looking forward to trying out the demo iPhone once the crowds are gone at the Irvine Spectrum.

I had to stop by The Shops at Mission Viejo to pick up some goodies from another store so I hopped over to the Apple Store to see how many people were waiting at 12pm Friday. To my horror their are at least 200 people in line for this bad boy! Looks like I'm going to order the iPhone online.

According to CourtneyA1's post in another thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=3841245&postcount=80), South Coast is at around 200 people. Any updates from either Fashion Island or the Spectrum?

I'm at Mission Viejo mall. The Apple Store is closed and has black sheets over the windows with "iPhone World Premiere Tonight at 6pm".

There are about 200 people here. The end of the line is outside the mall on the bridge. Apple employees were giving out water awhile ago, but most of them are inside now preparing.

They won't give out exact numbers but when I asked if everyone in line would be able to get one he said "you guys should be fine". So, that could mean they have at least 400 here (but that's just an assumption).

The Apple Store has free wireless, but it doesn't reach to the end of the line (I had to come near the store to post this). And if the line keeps growing, by the time I head back there the line should be well into the parking structure. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I just talked to a sales guy at the Foothill Ranch ATT company store. He told me there are between 80-100 people waiting at 3pm. He also told me that the ATT allotment of iPhones is 90 per store. Their are going to be some pissed off people when they wait in line for hours only to be turned away because of 0 stock. Maybe online ordering is the best bet. I wonder how many units the Apple store is stocking?

An hour to go here at Mission Viejo and they have moved the line closer to the Apple Store. Awhile ago they passed out tickets for free coffee. They still act like they don't see a problem with the lines length. About another 50 people or so joined the line for a total of about 250.

About an hour ago a guy from the AT&T store up the street was here saying that they had gotten 100 units and only had about 30 people in line. Here is the number he gave me in case you want to check it out. 949-364-4052

Ha! As I was typing this, they pulled down the curtain and everyone clapped. :)

People are coming closer to peek in the windows. They have about 25+ employees inside. A big iPhone display is in the window and it's counting down the minutes. Pretty cool.

Still no word on how many units they have, but they aren't sending anyone home and the employees are still saying everyone should get one. Good luck!

JUST GOT HOME AND I HAVE MY IPHONE! :)

I was somewhere between person 90-100. As I walked out there had to be another 250 people behind me, and more were still trickling in. Rumor is the store got about 800-1500, but they still wouldn't say for sure.

The first guy in line had arrived around 5am and supposedly sold his place in line for $500.

Went to the ATT store in Ladera Ranch thinking there'd be shorter lines.
Well, I guess it doesnt matter if they take *forever* to process each customer. I was there for hours.
They'd earlier come out to say there'd be plenty of iphones for everyone in the line... and so we wait.
How long should it take to buy a phone??
TV showed people getting in and out in 6 minutes from a apple store in chicago... here at ATT it must have been at least 20 minutes per customer!

So from time to time someone comes out and updates the line.
Oh, how thoughtful... NOT!!!
They would rather keep people captive in the (false) hopes of getting an iphone even when ATT store employees knew there wasnt enough.

What was their excuse?
Maybe hoping for that commission? eh?
Look ATT, if I stand in line for hours, repeatedly being reassured of getting the product and then you admit there arent enough to go around but you can deliver it to my home, then why not let us know to go home and order on-line for ourselves --- or go to another store... maybe the apple store would have had some left.
But NO... ATT mustnt be used to providing customer service..
well this is one customer youre not getting...

Seems like this is an ATT policy if its happening at other stores... idiots.
Would have been much better of Verizon hadnt turned apple down... ATT just isnt up to it, and is risking Apples reputation with this mismatch.

My one opportunity to purchase an 8gb was yesterday in Long Beach. Waited in line with about 60 people, near the end. Waited over an hour and you know how many people exited with an iPhone? 7! That's it. I don't know what the hell they were doing in there, but I had to leave to go back to work (blew my dinner break).

Tried again today at both AT&T stores in Huntington Beach, 0 iPhones. Tried the Apple Store at South Coast Plaza, 4gb, no 8 gb. Tried AT&T store in Whittier, 0 iPhones. Tried the Brea Mall Apple Store- you guessed it, 4gb but no 8gb.

Seems like Apple underestimated how many people would prefer the 8 over the 4. Bad news for me - I'm stuck in OC without an iPhone.

I left my house in Downey originally going to the Brea Apple store just to find out as I'm on the 91 that they sold out of the 8gb, I then call the Irvine spectrum and costa mesa store, sold out as well.... I was a desperate man... I called the Apple store in Mission Viejo and they had them.. got mine just got back, for kicks I called right now to see if they still had 8gb ones in stock and they said yes, so anyone reading this in the Mission Viejo area hurry up and get one!!
