Arghh...my wisdom teeth are growing in...

Just have to vent somewhere.

I have both my upper wisdon teeth coming in right now , cutting through the gums and I am sore , irritable and just a little amazed.
why amazed - well I am over 25 and wisdom teeth usually grow between 17-24 years age

I am happy as well, there is plenty of room for them to grow and so far they are coming in straight, soon I will have a complete textbook set of adult teeth. Great to use in my human osteology lecture especially the part about "standards"... 🙄

Any one else had they wisdom teeth come in late? experiences? tips ? 🙂
 
i have perfectly fine wisdom teeth (starting from 17) but i was told i might want to consider getting them removed before they cause any issues.

I don't see any reason to remove them yet and I think I'll wait. I remember getting four fully grown adult teeth removed for braces when I was still in elementary school, and I don't feel like repeating that anytime soon.

However, I only have two wisdom teeth, both lower. 😀
 
Well, I didn't get mine late... I was around 18 or so. Fortunately mine came in straight and didn't affect my other teeth much at all. I got all 4 and no problems in the 7 years 🙂
 
I can feel them waiting. Tauting me. Give them a good couple of years and I reckon they'll be causing me a whole world of pain 🙂

That is a slight problem, could develop some of the bite issues due to an unequal upper and lower bite surface.

Of course some dentists who do bite normalizations to reduce TMJ would likely yank those teeth.

But you definitely want them yanked when fully grown in, avoid the digging for teeth.

The weird part is that they're not that unequal.

I only have 26 teeth, and the two remaining wisdom teeth have yet to develop nor is there enough room to do so. If the two show up sometime in the next few years, I'll probably get them removed. But the wisdom teeth I do have right now work just fine for me..nor was that possibility mentioned. I was just told by two dentists that I should get them removed before they cause problems..
 
I'm 15 and the wisdom tooth at the top left of my mouth has already came down. Now the bottom left wisdom tooth is coming up and ARGH! The gums around the erupting tooth are sore. Good thing they're coming up straight, though!
 
I got all 4 cut out and it was awesome! The best nap I've ever had (full anesthesia), and no pain afterward, didn't even take pain pills.
 
I'm in a similar situation, but oddly only one of my wisdom teeth is coming in, and at an incredibly slow pace no less.
 
I'm 15. I had my lower right coming in. I was with my sister when the oral surgeon was doing an evaluation of her wisdoms (he yanked one of hers), and my dentist (the oral surgeon comes into the office) told the surgeon about what was going on with me.
He told me to sit down, he took a look, he said it could come in and that'll be the end of it. But he said he'd rather pull it now, so it won't hurt as it keeps on coming it.
Both my mom and I agreed.
He pulled it that day. I didn't feel a THING! Filling a cavity hurts more.
It hurt a but a couple hours more, but it wasn't something Advil or Tylenol could fix.
I recommend making an appointment with an oral surgeon just to make sure it's not coming in impacted.
 
RUN, do not walk, to an oral surgeon as fast as your little footsies can take you.

You'll be put under, most likely, and wake up to an IV of morphine -- and your own pushbutton delivery system. (At least that's what I had in the late '70's.) 😀

You'll look like a chipmunk for a week, won't be able to eat steak for a month (mmmm... yummy yummy mac-'n'-cheese for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!), and you'll have nightmares for years of whatever horrible rock music 🙁 the surgeon was playing and your anesthetized brain could still hear.

Don't sweat it: nearly everyone goes through it.

I just had mine out. DO NOT EAT BREAD!!! it will come back up. Make sure you get a lot of pills, there is no reason to be in pain.

The whole pain ordeal lasted about 4 days for me, the swelling didn't go down for 9 days.

edit: make sure you keep them!

edit 2: I had to add the horrible photo booth pic i sent to gross out my GF at the time 🙂

All 4 of mine were half-way in when I had them removed. I had very little pain after it was done and I think part of that was because they all slid out of my gums...I think I could have done them myself they came out so easy.

Only downside to having mine out was I had it done the day after Thanksgiving. No leftovers for me. 🙁
 
I had mine taken out 6 years ago they were impacted in my jaw. Had it done under a general and took me about a month to open my mouth fully and eat properly
 
Got all 4 of mine out in August after the impacted bottom ones started aching and making my face swell up at random times...it was actually kind of a fun experience, it really made me appreciate modern medicine a lot more. I had full anesthetic which started with a shot of fentanyl...that is some powerful stuff! I was loopy and telling the surgeon about how thick the air had just gotten before passing out. Some serious painkillers for a week and I was fine, no pain at all, no issues.

I took this pic on my cell phone literally as soon as I woke up in the operating chair. I was so excited I messaged it to half the people on my contacts list. 😀

When mine were coming through, man they hurt. I used mouth wash to keep the gums clean and i had some sort of gel that i could rub on my gums to kill any bacteria and also numbed the area for a few hours
 
When my wisdom teeth was growing it grew on its side horizontally instead of vertically. Took about an hour and 20 minutes for the dentist to cut the tooth to 3 pieces before taking it out. I didn't get to keep it for the tooth fairy 🙁.
 
I either never got wise enough to get any or have evolved to a higher level where I didn't need them.🙄

Either way, never had any.😱
