Hello Board!

I tried to burn a 800MB CD with my SR MacBook Pro.
The 800MB IDK CD only has a capacity of 96,6mb.
The 800MB Philips and Verbatim CDs have 700mb but not 800mb.

I was not able to burn the 790 MB file onto those CDs. :-(

Does anybody know how I can solve the problem?
Do I need other software to burn those CDs?
Does my CD drive need a firmware update?

I am very confused cause I thought a brand new Apple computer would be able
to buen 800mb CDs out of the box...

Thanks for any help,
Philip

You can't burn more data than the capacity of the CD, so if you have a 700 MB CD, you can't burn 800 MB on it. You'll need to burn a data DVD instead, that can contain 4,7 GB of data.
Personnally, I recommend the free Burn to burn CDs and DVDs. http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/

800MB is the unformatted capacity. The formatted capacity of an 800MB disk is (800MB * 1000) / 1024 = 781.25MB.

This is true regardless of OS or machine.
