Adding a Clickable Overlay "hot spot"

I'm making a video in FCP (edited: I mean FCE not FCP) and I'd like to be able to add a clickable overlay at the end of the video. In this case, the user would be able to click a "hot spot" on the video screen to visit a web site.

I know that video hosts like Brightcove offer this capability, but I'm curious if it is possible to add such a capability in FCP that would be a persistent part of the video?

If it's not possible in FCP, do you know of any programs or services that would enable me to add this to the video? Thanks!

I believe that what the video hosting sites do is entirely in html. When the video ends, a layer (previuosly set to hidden) is brought to the top, over the video, and displayed - often with a transparency, so you can still see the last frame of the video underneath it.

video is inherently NON interactive.

what you describe is not video, and thus not part of FCP.

Its, as has been pointed out, HTML/JS


At the very least, this can be done easily with a DVD...

I've been doing this with QuickTime Pro as an HREF track. Don't know anything about FCE/FCP.

You can tell quicktime to jump from one movie to another. This is the same thing as those click to play images that apple used to use on the trailers and other movies on its site. Try looking in the quicktime developers section of their site for a tutorial on how to do this. You basically want to do it in reverse. (BTW this is free since its just scripting the QT code for the html).

OR

Serve your video up in flash and you can have the last frame of your flash movie load the link. You will need Flash (the authoring program) to do something like this.

I can see why FCE doesn't do this functionality. It looks like I'll have to figure it out otherwise. I'm not technically inclined enough to do html, flash or js. I did find some products that do it, but I'm sure they're not cheap. http://www.dartmotif.com/video/sweetspot.asp
