Some good Gimp 2.2 Tutorials?

Hey MR, I've been trying to get to know Gimp a little better, and was wondering if any of you know were I could find some good tutorials? Maybe give me some advice on a few things to try to get started? I tried to do one of the tutorials on http://www.gimp.org called sketch effect, I didnt think it came out to bad but I have no idea the difference between good/bad. Heres how my picture came out after following the instructions in the tutorial:
So please give me some advice on some easy tutorials, or give me a starting point to work my way up from. Thanks everyone.

Hey thanks guys, I'd sure like to get the book but money is in issue. Soon as I find some though, I'll probably look into it. I havent looked at the GUG tutorials before you had mentioned them. Im actually looking through them right now.
