Does it need to stay docked during activation?

i've accidently undocked mine and i've been waiting for 10 hours and i'm about to have to go to work. does it need to stay docked while waiting for activation?

No you do not have to leave it docked.

Also try restarting it. Once i restarted my it activated. And the email
from AT&T didn't come for a few hours after it was working.
