Sound out through PIN? how? for all the accessories

well, for accessories such as iHome and also in my car i have a pin connector i used for my iPod. It worked great with my iPod but I can't seem to get the iPhone to allow itself to use the connectors to sound through them.


When I connect them to these accessories the sound out plays through the iPhone built in speakers only. Anyone know a work around?
