I owe Macrumors a lot for keeping the news together and helping me decide what computer to get.

Because of this, I got a nice, new MBA 13" to supplement my admission to college. Anybody a Trojan here? FIGHT ON!

Take more photos of your workplace!, I find platforms quite intriguing. :)

Yeah will do, do you have to post photos on another site to get the img code to post on this site, man I wish there was an easy way.

No, you can download them from your computer, using the little paper clip on the top of the post thread options, like this. :)
Doesn't seem to work from a iPad, the choose files bits are greyed out, not to worry, I know I can do it through flickr but it's a pain on the iPad. Thanks guys.

Hi everyone! Long time lurker from the islands :) I've been learning a lot, especially in the MBA section.

I've been an apple fan for a long time. I currently have a 15" MBP, 11" MBA, iPhone 3GS (soon to be 4S), 32GB iPad, and a 1st gen iPod touch.

Looking forward to joining in on the fun (and current madness in the iPhone section)!

Hey guys.. I've been a lurker for a while, but only sporadically until the pending launch of the iPhone 4S, and I had to join. I've been with Apple since the iMac, never used computers before that., never cared for the PC experience,

Can anyone explain the different titles, I was a newbie at first (no explanation necessary), then I was a 'member' for a while, now I'm a 'regular' What determines these things?

I bought an Ipad 2 wifi 16g a few weeks ago. It was on a Tuesday evening at the Houston Galleria Apple store. The reason I know it was a Tuesday is because the next morning news came that Steve Jobs had passed away. May he rest in peace.

The first pc I owned was a mac. I bought it back in the early to mid 90s. It was soon obsolete, and I couldn't afford another mac, so I switched over to to a pc.

I actually turned against apple products, although I was an big fan starting out.
I kept hearing about the ipod, how great it was. I kept saying it can't be that great. Then I bought one, right after christmas '05. Fabulous gadet. I've been in the apple fold, ever since, as much as I can afford to be anyway.

I currently have an ipod touch 3rd gen, an Ipad 2, just mentioned, & and win 7 notebook from hp. If I could afford it I would get an apple notebook or desktop, but I don't see that happening.

I also bought my wife an ipod. I've offered her my ipod touch, but she is very happy with her ipod. Oh yeah, I have an iphone 3gs also. My contract is up, and I am thinking about a 4s or a 4. The 4s is scarce. I want to keep my unlimited data plan also.

I didn't see an "Introduce yourself" thread anywhere, though I admit that I didn't exactly do an exhaustive search for one. But anyway, here's mine.

Hi! I'm John. I'm a writer from the greater Los Angeles area -- Woodland Hills, to be precise. I bought my first Mac, a Mini, back in '08. Prior to that, the last Mac I had even touched was a PowerBook sometime back in the mid-late '90s when they were still running OS 9. I was definitely not a fan back then, and I have to confess, I talked a lot of smack (I'd use another word, but I'm still new here and unsure of what the rules on four-letter words are) about Apple products.

I had engaged in writing as just a hobby until about 2000, when I discovered I could get paid to do it. Still, it was Windows for me until about 2008, when I discovered an app called Scrivener. From everything I read about it, it was a writer's dream come true -- and it was only available for the Mac. So, I swallowed my pride, kicked my anti-Apple prejudice into a dark corner, and bought myself the least expensive Mac there was, the Mac Mini. I loaded Scrivener onto it, and... was pretty disappointed.

But, having taken the plunge and laid down the coin for this new, but shockingly intuitive and easy to learn, OS -- frankly, I found OSX Leopard to be as different from OS 9 as night is from day -- I was already committed to the platform.

So I got ahold of an app called StoryMill, by Mariner Software. I was hooked. I got Montage. I was hooked even deeper. Since then, I've penned three dozen short stories in StoryMill, an independent feature film and a corporate video in Montage, and then... the original Mini died.

See, at the time -- and still to this day, for the moment -- I lived in a ghetto-ass apartment complex with a serious mold infestation in the central AC system. That killed the fan in the Mini -- then condensation formed and, when the temperature rose again, that condensation dripped into the logic board and killed the first Mac I ever really loved.

I was stuck with Windows 7 from '08 to about August of this year, when I bought a mid-2011 Mini. But all throughout that unwanted exodus back to Windows, I used RocketDock and a few other third-party mods to recreate Leopard. Along the way, Literature & Latte released a beta of Scrivener for Windows, and I learned to love Scrivener for the first time.

Now I'm back on the Mac, using Scrivener full time to complete spec projects for the production company I work for, TKH Productions, and having an absolute blast.

So there's me. Nice to meet you all, and I'm hoping to have a good time here.

Oh, I didn't see this thread before. I joined two months ago, but I will make a nice introduction for myself :)

I am an engineering student at college, and I am a self proclaimed Apple Fanboy :) . I used to have a MacBook (2.0GHz G2D, 2Gb Ram), but this summer I decided to purchase myself a more powerful MacBook, so I bought a 15'' pro (2.0 GHz i5 with 4Gb ram) and just this past week I upgraded the ram to 8Gb (one of the best computer decisions I have made in a while). I have a a 16Gb WiFi+3G iPad (First generation), along with a white AT&T 16Gb iPhone 4.

I had actually been looking at MacRumor's front page for apple news for the past year or so, but it was just this past fall when I decided to browse around the forums. I really liked the atmosphere from what I could tell, and I definitely have an interest in Apple products (why the hell else would I be here then? haha). I plan on being here for a while!

Been reading the MacRumors entries for about 2 years now? So I finally decided to enjoy the forums. Hello from Australia!

I'm from Australia too mate :)

Hello all I am xf82517 :) Nice to be here and dribbling over my Mac Mini constantly. Although it's second hand I am finding I do most everything with it (photoshop, word processing, spreadsheeting, internet and randomly playing with databases)

I still need my Windows laptop for DVRing tv and playing recorded tv files though. :)

The only problem is I can't seem to get the DVI output to function out of my digital Samsung display. Oh well.

I've been lurking around and doing heaps of searching in this forum and others to find my problem, no luck yet! :)

What I love about the Mac it's just so friendly looking and easy to use. For the love of me on the first day I hooked it up I couldn't work out how to get the Info about my external hard drive, 2 hours later after exploring everything I managed to work out you can right click on it and click "Get Info"

MOD NOTE:

I just cleaned up all posts that don't fit the 2 month rule.

This will be a bit of a test... Another of these threads started with good intentions... but was soon taken over by regulars.

if you just joined MacRumors, reply and introduce yourself.

This is only for new Macrumors users... only users who registered within two months of the current date may reply...

All other users posts will be deleted. (moderators, please enforce this). This will be for myself included... only comments by truely "new" users will be allowed in this thread.

Discuss away...

(this could fail miserably if no one replies :) )

Hi, all...I'm....kinda new. Already posted about 20 times so far, but this thread somehow eluded me!

From 1993 until 2006 I was a die-hard Amiga user. 2006 was a rough year, though, as my wife and I were in the midst of a move across four states, and during that move my wife lost her job, so we were getting by on my income and several part-time jobs...one day the place where my wife and I were both part-timing they screwed up her payroll (and it was going to be a REALLY nice check!), and as a result I didn't have enough to pay the rent -- I'm sure we could have asked our landlady to give us a few days, but I didn't want to do that. I was planning to buy a used PC anyway to practice programming etc., so I sold my AmigaOne via eBay and got a LOT more than my asking price!

So....a year later after my wife got her current job and we were back on our feet and in better shape to spend once in a while, I wanted to get another AmigaOne. Problem: the reason I made a lot of money off the sale was that there was a huge demand for those, but production of the boards stopped about a year before. And I was having a dilly of a time looking for another one. But I needed something. And I really wanted a laptop, which to this day you can't really get in an Amiga (unless you emulate the older 680x0-based ones)...but I didn't want a Windows computer -- in fact, to this day, I've never given a cent to Microsoft -- and I couldn't find a bare laptop on which I could put Linux...plus, I was always the go-to guy whenever someone had computer problems (and I've since become a certified technician and do freelance computer work as a result!), and people would always ask, "Do you do Macs too?" Hmmm...I didn't. Maybe it was about time I learned.

So on December 27, 2007, I took a big risk and went to Best Buy and bought a white MacBook. Wow. Best purchase decision I EVER made. (Only problem: Amiga had Directory Opus...Mac doesn't have it -- which is why I'm currently making an equivalent out of Java. :) ) LOVED IT from the start! My wife and I became converts instantly.

On December 28, 2011, I bought my first iMac and the thing is a dream.

Anyway...I'm a Chicago north-sider. Talk to me about computer stuff, music in general (especially Beatles and Brian Wilson), and Lord knows what else...in grad school working on a master's in software engineering. Afraid I'll have to repeat my data structures class, but hey... :)

Been really digging the discussions here!

I was wondering where this thread/section was. I'm the new guy here :)

I can't say I'm new to Apple, but I am new to Macs. My first Apple product wasn't an iPod, it was actually the iPhone 3G when I was stationed in Germany. Over there it only cost about $1.35 for one on contract, versus the $200 here. It was great until iOS 4 hit it. After that I picked up an iPad1. I didn't get another iPhone until the 4S came out.

Recently though I picked up my very first Mac, a 13" MBP. I love this thing, however the transition from PC to Mac has its moments, especially having to purchase new software that I grew accustom to on my PC. It just takes time getting used to.

Anyway, hi!

Ive had the first gen iPad since 2010, and thought with all my hard work in college that I deserved an upgrade! My dear mother bought me the new one, under the condition I send her my old iPad. Petty sweet deal. So anyways, I think I'll really like it here and hopefully I won't pester anyone too much!

Hello! :)

I've been lurking for a while, and thought I'd finally sign up.

I've been using iOS devices since the iPhone 3G, but have always been a Windows user when it came to computers.

... but then my boss ditched the PCs at work, and replaced them all with iMacs... Six months later, and I want one at home! :)

Just waiting on the 2012 iMac update, and I'll be "all in" with Apple and say goodbye to Microsoft (well, apart from my Xbox 360 ;) ).
