View Full Version : What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

pEZ
Jul 17, 2003, 11:02 PM
As of late, this forum desparately needs a little light hearted topic, so let's talk about something that everyone likes - ice cream.

So here's the topic - what is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Or frozen yogurt, if lower fat is your thing.

Mine varies all over the place, but i'm a huge fan of mint chocolate chip, or if i'm feeling saucy, Jamoca Almond Fudge. Mmm. :D

Yeah, light-hearted is good right now.

I like all ice cream. If it's frozen, I'll eat it. ;)

I have a similar saying for women, but I won't post it. I read the rules. ;)

EDIT TO ADD: Breyers is "da bomb". Blasphemous!!!

Hands down, the best ice cream out there...

And then there's HEB's Creamy Creations Dulce De Leche Ice Cream... That's good too, but not as good as chocolate chip cookie dough...

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

My family is an ice cream family. Get us any amount of ice cream and it will be gone within 24 hours.

That is one of the things that annoys me about my dad. Every time we get ice cream - its like a race to get some, because he eats 3/4 of the gallon in one sitting.

I COULD do the same thing - but I try to think of the negative effects that would have on my body and the fact that it annoys me that my dad eats so much ice cream.

Never mind, my favorite is Stracciatella. Do you know this in the States?

There has only been ice cream in my house about 5 times in about 7 years - and it is only for VERY special occasions - same goes for cheerios, inorganic milk, whole milk of any kind, pop-tarts, cheese-its, chips of any kind other than kettle organically grown corn chips, and any type of snack food. The most unhealthy food my mom buys on a semi-regular basis is Ramen Noodles - and the only reason she buys Ramen is because of the price.

But the ice cream lovers extend into my extended family - so there is always ice cream at family occasions. What my aunts always do is buy the amount needed to feed everyone in my (huge) family, and then buy one extra box of vanilla for my dad . So although there is never ice cream at my house, I have seen the amount my dad can eat many times.

According to Google, Stracciatella is Italian soup.

Dairy Queen: the chocolate custard in a cone is just fine, though dipped in cherry is quite nice.

Baskin-Robbins: egg nog, anything with mostly chocolate, mint chip (great as a shake), burgundy cherry, strawberry, nothing with walnuts, none of the weird icky colored things.

Yeah I think we put in half and half instead of heavy cream, meh.

What is pissing me off is my sister had a b-day party and her friends when out for the supposed best ice cream they ever had, and...

I made homemade ice cream a few times. It's an interesting process, and the ice cream was delicious, although it melted faster than store-bought ice cream. Like homemade bread, it took some time to make, including setup and cleanup, and it didn't save money compared to buying at the supermarket. But it had no hard-to-pronounce artificial ingredients!

Anyone who lives in the Extended Bay Area should go to the Gilroy Garlic Festival and try their garlic ice cream. I swear, its really good! The festival is coming up soon, so anyone who likes garlic even a little bit should check it out!

P.S. I love making homemade ice cream, and if it melts a little faster, it is usually because it didn't get packed and frozen in the freezer after being made (you just dug in as soon as it was done huh! - Nothing wrong with that:D ). For $50 you can get a counter top ice cream maker (or fro yo maker) that is virtually foolproof and pretty much clean and easy to use. Just keep the cylinder in the freezer until... you know I think I hear mine calling me now! Time for some apricot ice cream, my neighbor just gave me a whole pile of 'cots from her tree to use! Woohoo!

I love chocolate, but when I was little, I used to go over to my cousin's house and we would take vanilla ice cream, but it in a bowl, and but sprinkles all over the ice cream. We'd let is sit for 5 minutes until it was halfway melted, ten eat it. I dunno where we got the combination from, but it sure did taste good.

sometimes we still make "homemade" ice cream, but it is with an electric oone that automatically turns the big tube of ice cream. Tastes the same to me. My mom always tells me that they had to sit on top of the ice cream turned thing to make it make ice cram right. One would sit, one would turn. But back on subject, homemade ice cream is the best.

This stuff is interesting: Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream (http://www.popsci.com/popsci/hometech/article/0,12543,458641,00.html)

It's supposed to make the smoothest and creamiest ice cream, because it freezes the ice cream so fast, it doesn't allow time for the crystals that make ice cream hard to form...
