A very mediocre fake.

Someone went into Photoshop and slapped on the command line interface while ignoring the fact that the status bar and virtual keyboard are products of the OS X interface.

In fact, if you look directly above the P, you can see where they erased more pixels than they should have.

definitely photoshopped..

Just out of curiosity though, does anyone's phone actually say "cingular" in the top left hand corner? They all say "AT&T" right?

We better contact PR about the lack of continuity among their products.. mine shipped with an old version of Server 2003!

It wasn't a stupid question. It was a rhetorical question, therefore pointless to ask. It's blatently obvious what the answer is, so it's a waste of time to ask, just like my replies.

I'm going to go make a root photoshop image, at least that would be plausible and more entertaining...

Fair and Balanced. You Decide. lol

From the "You decide" part which meant the poster has already made a decision and is looking to a discussion for confirmation. Whatever, it was funny for about 1sec, and he/she got the attention he was looking for.

That's pretty known. But, I've never seen "cingular" displayed on my iPhone, like in this picture.

wrong, Cingular bought ATT.

edit: well, i guess in some way you are right that cingular was bought by ATT. its a bit confusing. more details here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cingular. Pardon me.

switchy

They were bought like two ways... Cingular buys ATT wireless, ATT buys Cingular? I think.

That would have doubled Vista's sales right there if it were true.

Of course, that would have also pushed back the release date by four years and we'd only get 4 of the promised 11 widgets.

Tip for whoever wants to make the next fake - get a screenshot of terminal on your desktop/laptop, crop it down to iPhone size, add it to iPhoto, sync it up on your iPhone, and then take a picture.
