Its not been too long I suppose since we got the youtube update. But, I'd really like to see more.

Any ideas? I hope they don't forget about us thanks to the iPhone. I have both ,but I use my AppleTV everyday as well.

For those of us in the UK (with a TV licence), a deal with the BBC for watching recent TV would be great :)

In fact, having BBC content on iTMS would be great too - all over the world.

It just seems sometimes that the Apple TV gets put on a back burner.

I think S Jobs said already that the AppleTV has not been given the attention that it needs. He also said that it would soon. We all just have to wait and see what they do with it.

I want to know what is in store for the USB port on it. Currently it does absolutely nothing. They didn't put that on there for looks. It is there for a reason. A couple of uses could be... an external USB drive, a USB tuner (that would be awesome).

It is there for diagnostics. This has been said mamny of times. There is no reason it would have to be otherwise. People just expect it to be. Using a common port for many reasons is very normal. I have a TV and also we sell many different brand TVs at work that use a USB port for diagnostics. SO it is not out of the realm of possibilities that is just that. However it is not out of the realm of possibilities that it can changed. I wouldnt mind seeing a Keyboard for using the search functions of you tube. However I would hope for something wireless.

All of that is easy and possible. Probably by the end of the year we'll have all of that plus some stuff we didn't even know we wanted yet.

How can you say that? The Apple TV just came out a few months ago and put out an update a couple of weeks ago.
Did you expect Apple to put out a 2.0 version of the product already?

Remember all those rumors of the mac mini being discontinued? Well...
What if, and this may be a big IF, they move the mac mini into the living room like many have done before? And by this I mean they sell a bluetooth/dvd/hd dvd/blueray/all of those in one device to connect to the apple TV? With this you would be able to utilize the apple TV like a striped down computer; surf the internet, check mail, purchase and edit your iTunes account, play old school games, etc. All of this could be done with the bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Don't expect to be doing photoshop with this little thing though, the 256MB of ram is limiting it from doing anything a G4 could do. They could save memory by redesigning the os that is on the iPhone for the apple TV. OMG why don't they allow the iPhone and apple TV to talk together via WiFi? your iPhone could be the keyboard and mouse!

I would like to see some better integration with Bonjour networking, especially with the iPhone available now. It would be cool if my Apple TV could detect my iPhone and allow it to stream music.

It would also be nice if you could control the Apple TV with an iPhone via bluetooth, though I'm not sure how practical that is.

Yeah, I am in wait-and-see mode at the moment to see how well this device gets supported. I have had .mac for awhile now and it is always a "there will be more soon" attitude towards it. I am hoping that the AppleTV is not the same...

Stopping Joost only seems to be the issue right now which I'm sure Apple could figure out.

Look, Apple will never bring Joost or anything like it to AppleTV. You might think it would be cool, it might "make sense", but it ain't happening. Apple has no interest in TV programming outside of iTunes. Completely different business models and technologies, very limited mainstream appeal, no attraction at all for Steve and other "idea people" at Apple.

You might as well hope Apple will team up with MythTV.

airport express ability would be cool. It seems kind of dumb that the device can't do that. Otherwise, just more ways to configure the way you view files. I'd like to be able to sort movies by year for example, or genre.

apple is awesome at partnering with companies and i can see them partening with elgato so you can plug your elgato eyetv into the appletv and record programs...imagine apple's software, they would make it so easy and sexy.......let's knock tiVo out of the living room!!!!

I'd like the ability to show keynote presentations, think it would appeal to a larger business market and add the ability to add additional codecs from the source computer. Joost streaming wouldn't go a miss either.

In the UK, the "BBC" is basically a TV channel. It stands for the British Broadcasting Corporation.

When Apple provide TV show downloads for the UK, it will almost certainty include the BBC... its very British.

People in the USA have already seen TV shows from the BBC on NBC. "The Office" was broadcasted first on the BBC and adapted for you americans.

Hope that sums it up! :)

I wouldn't count on it - but it would be really great if Apple got involved for the Mac equivalent of the currently Windows only BBC iPlayer (link (http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2007/06_june/27/iplayer.shtml)) and made it all play nice with Apple TV.

P.S. This engadet article (http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/07/06/bbcs-iplayer-to-work-on-iphone/) has got my hopes of an Apple TV version of the BBC iPlayer up a bit...

Actually the BBC is the worlds largest broadcaster (based on what metric I am not sure, but it was in the Media Guardian last week).

The BBC has recently being pushing to produce more global content and are at the cutting edge of HD content production. The fantastic "Planet Earth" series that aired in the US with Signorey Weaver voiceover was a joint production with the BBC.

You may also have seen Walking with Dinosaurs, Doctor Who, Top Gear, numerous drama's based on classic novels and of course teletubbies.

Don't forget to 'not mention the war' too :-)

That wish list was a poorly thought out disgrace to wish lists. NO wish list is complete unless it contains a time machine and an invisibility button on your watch.

Couldnt agree more. This is my number one gripe. Currently looking at the Mac Mini to fill the void (and im crossing my fingers while I wait, as i hope its not being discontinued). Someone mentioned the mac mini becoming the Apple TV 2.0 or something, which would be cool, but something i sortof doubt.

AMEN!!!!! I havent gotten TV yet because I can't do what I want to do. I have multiple rooms in my house wired as a second zone to my Receiver. I want a iPod or a iPhone that I can use with TV to control it. That way when I am on patio grilling I can change songs without walking back into the house.
