Try installing Perian (http://perian.org/).

Some people prefer to use VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html) for their videos. It plays just about everything.

Some people prefer to use VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html) for their videos. It plays just about everything.

But doesn't help system-wide, which Perian does. Installing a third party player, such as VLC, allows you to play videos inside the VLC player. Installing a third party QuickTime Plugin, like Perian or Flip4Mac, usually allows you to play videos in the QuickTime Player, in iMovie, in iTunes, in Final Cut Pro, inside Safari or other web browsers, etc...

Another vote for Perian. It was also recently updated to 1.0, so you should be good to go.
