Here is my dilemma. I am pissed b/c I think the "desktop" options on my MBP suck. This is what I want... a picture of my fiancee, justified to the left that covers, from top to bottom the entire screen. But as it goes right, I want to fade to black. I tried this with iphoto but it is not able to do this.

Just to clarify. I want the right half of my screen to be black, the left side of my screen to have a picture, in b and w, and I want it to fade in the middle.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Something like this? Although the white replaced with the picture?

Exactly

That can be achieved by using gradients in Photoshop/GIMP, it's not too hard to do.
