4 gig or 2 gig MBP/ RAM questions

If you need to ask, you probably won't notice a difference even if you bought the upgrade. 2GB is plenty.

depends on what u will/are doing with ur laptop. i have 2GB of RAM on my 4 day old MBP and for now, it's more than enough! :)

Ram is a user-replaceable part so it will not void your warranty. It is very easy to install.

There are only two ram slots in the MBPs so you have to swap those two 1GB sticks out with the two sticks of 2GB. With the leftover 2GB(1x1) you can either sell them back to OWC, sell them elsewhere, or keep them should anything go wrong with the ram that you just installed. The maximum amount of ram allowed in the MBP is 4GB not 6GB. That is a 4GB kit meaning there are two 2GB sticks.

Both are good chips -- One is Samsung and over priced, the other is Techworks -- otherwise they have the same specs. OWC will stand behind either one, so I just don't see the value of spending the excess money on the Samsung.

I recommend either DMS (http://www.datamem.com) or OWC (http://eshop.macsales.com) for RAM...both sites have wizards on their sites to help you find the exact RAM for your machine.

Any PC-5300 DDR2 667mhz 200-pin memory module should do.

Go w/ Tech since it has 2 GB as 1GB x 2, that improves performance compare to just sticking one 2gb RAM...

Plus I don't trust Samsung or Techworks for RAM (well I never used either) but go for a well known brand like Corsair or Crucial.
