Keaton has been a hero of mine for a long time, especially in charcter. And I can't say I've enjoyed watching anything more in my life than Buster Keaton movies.

Oh and when I was younger I was pretty hooked on Spider-man.

I'd have to say Green Lantern, he is all for justice and what not.

I also like the black version of him in Justice League.

Edit:
Buddha (I'm not even a Buddhist, can you believe it?)
Anti-Christ (Insiders Interweb joke, if your christian and don't get it, don't worry about it)
Old skool Batman, the one either during the 90's comic cook OR the Real person one, action series.
*wham* *pow*
'Holy Smokes Batman!'

ya that it.

Goku. Also his son Gohan -- when he was a kid. He was a very serious badass as a kid. Now he's just goofy. Vegeta is badass as a good guy.

The original He-Man.

Brett Favre -- the man is all heart. Gotta love him. Don't disagree with me! I said "you've got to love him," and you do.

Damien Vryce+Gerald Tarrant. Gandalf, Frodo. Keneda. Sarah Conner.

Spawn. Wolverine. Spawn. Spawn again.

Cloud. Ashley Riot.

Henry V, Jeanne de Arc (it's not Schizophrenic! The uniting theme is the hatred for the Dauhpin [sp?]).

John Carmack.

The passengers of flight 93.

No more heroes any more...

All the media goons are too compromised by their greed for exposure, all the politicians are corrupt or in the corporate pocket, all the scientists are tied to the budget strings... the list goes on:(

Every real "hero" I ever had lost it in some way, no-one can live up to the crushing weight of expectation.

The best heroes are fictional, and because they are fictional they can be perfect, here's a few:

The Grey Lensman
Indiana Jones
Roland Chastain
Cheradenine Zakalwe
Sharrow
Ellen Ripley
Deckert/Roy Batty
Joshua Calvert
Frodo and Sam
Bilbo and Gandalf
Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn
Thelma and Louise
Neo

That's just from the top of my head, I guess Sherlock Holmes should be there, and many others.

Stephen Hawking is a hero, but he's also human.

I think that everyones Hero helps tell a tale about what they believe in.

Tho its kinda hard when a person names alot of people... ;)

Seven comments posted before Steve Jobs came up :D Come on folks, what were you thinking!

Superhero: I'm going to say Arch Angel from the old X-Factor comics. He was supposed to be in the latest X-Men movie in some fashion. I hope he's at least mentioned on the dvd.

Real Life: No one any of you would know. Isn't that how it's supposed to be?

Zhang Zi-Yi's character from CTHD, Jen, because she was a hero and a villain.

Such a multidemnsional character played so well. You gotta love Zhang Zi-Yi.

Oh, and the Iron Monkey (played by Donnie Yen - a major icon of the martial arts hollywood scene) from The Iron Monkey :).

He embodied the search for equality, and used aggression as a means of promoting equality.

Plus his fight scenes were ****ing awesome ;).

I don't have a real hero. I strive to be better, and I don't try to be like any sole person. I strive to have the heart of Nelson Mandella, the drive of Beyonce Knowles, and the spirit of my mother. I am affected by everyone in small ways. I have no real life hero, actually I have millions but they are all pretty much equal.

For a non-religious my choice is Winston Churchill, he overcame great odds during WWW II! His whole life was a struggle against the odds! A man of extraordinary character, "Never give in."

Real Life: Jesus Christ, Lord and savior, not to be confused with Jesus Christo who works in IT, though he's a nice guy...

Fake Life: Deadpool, sort of a hero in an anti-hero in a hero in an anti-hero body...he's got issues.

Nerd Life: Miyamoto, inventor of the greatest games of all time...although he does stifle productivity...that &*#^@(

On a serious note, though, my favorite movie here is James Bond. (He drives cool cars, and gets cute girls.)

i didn't think she was much of a hero though, just a "really, really, really hot, confused chinese chick," as Owen Wilson put it.

i liked Michelle Yeoh's character, shu lien, much better. in she gave her life for doing what was right, what she thought was honorable, and in the end was rewarded with a pain that hides sweetness i imagine few people can ever know. maybe not so heroic, but her character is absolutely beautiful.

as for my favorite hero, i have to say Henry V, from the Shakespeare play.

O! For a muse of Fire that would ascend
The brightest heaven of invention;
A kingdom for a stage; princes to act,
And Monarchs to behold the swelling scene!
Then should the war-like Harry, like himself,
Assume the port of Mars; and at his heels,
Leash'd in like hounds, should famine, sword, and fire
Crouch for employment!

Shakespeare shows him as the perfect example of a man who turns from his wild ways to take his role of leadership over a country seriously and accomplish amazing things.

on a more realistic front, i really admire Malcolm X... such an amazingly powerful story. there's a man who, like einstein and other great men, underwent a paradigm shift that i can only imagine.
and then he was killed because of it.

Luke Skywalker for beating the Empire.
Derek Webb for telling it like it is to the Christian church.
Wil Wheaton for being Everyman.
Jim Hawkins for rising above his lot in life.
My dad for being, well, my dad.
Steve Wozniak for using his fame for awesome rather than evil.
Rich Mullins for being richer now that he's dead than he ever was alive (he gave all of his money away except what he needed).
Aeris Gainsborough for embracing death so that all might live.
Obi-Wan Kenobi for the same.

You are officially guilty of posting a picture that causes everyone to scroll left and right! But it was worth it ;).

Yeah Shu Lien was a great character. But she was kind of too archetypical, and the reason I like'd Zhang's character was that she was a hero in the way that you had compassion for her, and she was fighting for something she believed in, but a villian in the fact that she was fighting all the wrong people :).

Every time I talk about CTHD I want to watch it. Such a great movie. :D
