Ever notice how some ads go horribly wrong?
I'll let you all try to figure out what's wrong with this box art from a Sega game.

Is it anything to do with the whole thing looking incredibly camp?
Mr. Anderson
Jul 21, 2003, 07:55 AM
The dragon is to the lift - big green lizard type ;)
And as for campy, well, it was released in 1989 (internet search told me this).
So are you just talking about bad design or the fact that the hero is wearing green elf boots and no pants?

It probably falls into the 'obvious' category, but is it the fact that the design grid has been left in the background?
How long are you (durandal) going to let this one lie before you confirm what the problem is?
I assume that having two guesses isn't disallowed? ;)

Off topic, but I used to play that game all of the time. It was tricky because you couldn't do anything until you watched the demo. You see, when you just started the game, you fight a boss and he would turn you into a dragon and you couldn't do anything that way. But if you watched the demo, the guy would go into a shop and look at a password and if you put in that password, you could play the game without being a dragon. I felt so cool figuring that out. Sucks to be the people that didn't figure it out though, the game would have lasted 15 minutes for them.

Well, actually the octopus was a desert octopus that would jump out of the sand and spit stuff at you. But that could be the mistake he is reffering to.

That's not that wierd, about the shield. Shields were pretty frequently reinforced like that - imagine hitting that shield with another sword, that would be a nice clang, followed by a debilitating vibration...
Aside from the fact that the game is called "The Dragon's Trap" and everyone is scared of Wonder Boy, so what's the point of the game...otherwise i'm going with "Wonder Boy the Pantsless Wonder", even if that does sound like a game inspired by porno mags.

There's some sick stuff in the Little Mermaid.
From what I've read, Disney fired the lead animator during the project. However, he was supposed to see the film through to completion then empty his desk. Apparently he added all the stuff as a way to get back at Disney. It worked. Disney didn't find out until the movie was released to the general public.

First off, as representative of the gay community, that guy is NOT gay... we don't want to claim him either...
secondly... while that particular Disney rumor is false, some are true, yes. Like, there is a frame of pornography in the window during like 1/2 a second that they fly by... much too fast to see, most people can't even find it on frame-by-frame...
And of course "sex" in lion king... which could have been an accident...
i don't buy that "all the teenagers take off your clothes!" line from aladin tho... BS.

Hey, I played WonderBoy I in arcade, and 2 and 3 in my sega master system.
And i finished the game starting as a dragon.. I have never seen the demo!

It did las a long time, after you figured out where to go as a dragon, you turned into a mouse, bird, lion, etc until you fought the last dragon and turned back.. the whole storyline consisted in finding the last dragon and turning back into human shape

Abstract
Jul 21, 2003, 08:20 PM
Little Mermaid: The word "Sex" was spelled in the clouds.
Aladdin: Theres a scene where he flies over to Princess Jasmine's window and whispers "take off your clothes." Supposedly, he's actually saying "take off and go", but that's not what it sounds like. ;)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit: There's a scene where Jessica Rabbit and Bob Hoskin and travelling in a taxicab, crash into something (a pole), and Jessica Rabbit springs out of the taxi. The wind lifts her skirt up, and you see her "pubic region". In Canada, we call that a "beaver", but that's because Canadians are obsessed with beavers.
The spire in the Little Mermaid cartoon IS a *****. Look at it!!! The minister also gets an erection when she sits on his lap. Its supposedly his knee, but who has a knee that looks like a peepee. Ewww......and yet it turns me on.

*Grand Prize can be anything, everything or nothing.
The grand Prize can and will nothing you accept as reality and will force you to rethink the whole scheme in life.
Void where prohibited.
Its weird how stuff gets randomly placed, of coarse in Cartoons it was draw in and therefore no mistake, unlike movies where things can be accidental.

well since this has strayed horribly away from the original posts and there have been more posts on topic about disney I'll clue you guys in on a few more (thanks to http://www.anomalies-unlimited.com/Disney.html ):
In "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". While Daffy and Donald have a piano duel Daffy sprouts an erection.
WDIV -TV in Detroit found a dirty word spoken in the cartoon short "The Clock Cleaner", Daffy Duck was clearly heard to say "**** You". When this was discovered, Wal-Mart pulled the video from the shelves and even though Disney denied it they still edited it and re-released it for sale.
In the movie 'The Santa Clause" the wife was given an emergency '800' phone number which was the actual number of a phone sex service.
The New York Times commented that the Pocahontas character was an "animated Playboy Centerfold that has no place in a children's movie". Disney said she was designed to "appeal to the adult male". Why adult males need to be appealed to in a children's animation? Are adult males now masturbating to Disney animations? Did Playboy increase their prices or something? Also the real Pocahontas was 12 when she met John Smith.
In 1989 Disney threatened to sue three Florida day care centers that had Mickey Mouse painted on their walls as decoration. The murals were removed. The Hanna-Barbera company contacted the centers and sent them some of their wall-ready, pre-made characters to use, and even threw them a party.
In "Toy Story", Woody mocks Buzz Lightyear's gadgets and is told he has "Laser envy"...hardly a joke a 5 year old would get..
There's more out there of course, and Disney has pulled plenty of trully evil stunts in the past other than the film stuff.

In "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". not only does Animated Playboy Fantasy Esmerelda do a sexy stipper pole-dance, but Kirk Wise, director of the film, said, "I think she's the first Disney heroine to carry a concealed weapon and we're proud of that fact".
I thought that was pretty funny.

Having worked on their ASO account for CIGNA, I can say that their health benefits are pretty good by most comparisons. They forgo a lot of prerequisite crap for alternative treatment, although they are pretty hard line about their limits. They get absolute red-phone quality service from their special account consultant(s) too, so when they need to make special exceptions it happens like a snippety-snap...the consultant says "pay it" and it gets paid.
Same benefits for the ABC and ESPN employees, of course...not that good benefits make someplace a good place to work...
Anyway. So what's so horrible wrong with the idiotically NES-typical (http://www.seanbaby.com/nes.htm) box, anyway?

okay ill give it a shot.
does the problem revolve around the contradicting image of the octopus with a canine/feline type nose? i understand its an exaggerated personified stylized cartoon illustration (which explains every other exageration... like human teeth, hair etc. ) but giving the octopus which is a sea creature a land animals breathing apparatus is going too far perhaps.
well thats my guess. im probably off because somehow i dont think that the nose issue on the octopus is a big enough issue that would go along with this "horribly wrong" thing... but again i could be wrong.
and another thing... i dont know a got dang thing about octopus other then the usual... sea creatures, have tentacles, slippery as hell and so on.

Actually I didn't find anything wrong with it. It was a psychological experiment to see how worked up people would get over the lack of a response.
In short, a mind game.
Why Wonder Boy? Because it was a badly designed image that is vaguely suggestive if that is how your mind works. It was poorly designed and ridiculous enough for people to invent something that wasn't there.
Kudos on tracking it to it's original source. You may now hang me by my nuts.

After there were many replies and you hadn't showed up again - I was thinking you were playing games.
Don't do it in the future - someone might get upset, then we have to clean things up and that causes us more work, which means we'll take care of the source of the extra work ;)

Will do, it was a one-time thing. Just curious.
I am leaving on vacation tommarow so just be grateful I didn't string you along all week ;)

After Das provided the link to the art review it pretty much settled it - I imagine if you came back in a week you would have had to resurrect it.
Have a good vacation :D

I really didn't think it would escalate this far. I was amazed when I logged on and saw 71 posts in such an incredibly inane thread
I have now proved that chaos theory can be easily applied to a group of people. A single short post that alludes to something somehow caused a large group of people to begin arguing amongst themselves and going after the poster. I find it all rather educational. :p

Um... isn't that proved on this site every day?
And now how will you apply your new-found knowledge?

Yeah, I think you're right with this one. He then attempts to cover up with bluster about chaos theory to make it seem like he was setting up a clever experiment rather than having come up with a lame punch line.
I didn't realize chaos theory had anything to do with asking people to find a mistake and then being surprised they take some guesses. :D

I'm glad I didn't bother trying to find the answer. Just thought it was funny that this thread was still going. Was kinda curious to see if there was an answer, but now I'm kinda disappointed it was just a joke... I mean, experiment.
Figured you'd be gone for days, but then I saw that you had posted this morning.
I still don't care enough to be angry.

In Short -- I'm gonna frikken kill you.
There were so many things wrong, its not even funny.
Look you made people wait, that was key to your sicko experiment, if you had done it yesterday it wouldn't of worked, and if you had done it tommorow everyone would be pissed at you because you suck anyway.
No Offense, I don't like being playied, you suck.

I think you're missing the most horrible thing of all, he made us look a man marching around with no pants on for hours! I tell ya, I didn't like it at my family reunion and I don't like it now. And don't pull Chaos Theory into it, what does Jurassic Park have to do with anything? However, I will say it was the best trick ever and as such, list your address for your commemorative trophy...hmm...where's that shovel...always the last place you look I swear...
