Yeah, this is pretty brilliant. Works great with my home network, going to try it at work tomorrow (and my co-workers are gonna freak!)

Is this application to be downloaded through the mac or the iphone or both? Do you just use the iphone to go to the web link or does it have to actually be installed on the phone itself?

When I first say this, I guess I didnt read enough about it. I didnt really need to program my iPhone to be a remote control for a computer I was sitting at. :-)
But Then...
I saw that I could access my computer away from home - WOW.
I set up my firewall to allow access, went down the street and connected to my computer, viewed PDF's, took snapshots from my isight. This is REALLY cool. not quite Remote Desktop for an iPhone, but close enough!

all you have to do is turn it on on your computer and point your browser to it from the iPhone. I was up and running in about 2 minutes.

Mine works via wifi, but not with EDGE. Am I doing something wrong, or will it only work via wifi?

To access it via EDGE, you are no longer on your local network, so you will need to enter your home IP (in place of the 192.168.x.x). You will probably also need to open up the port on your router (5010).

The first thing I did was to download the program and start it on my Mac. I then used the Safari Browser on the iPhone and pointed it to my local ip address. (in system preferences, select "Network" and look for your IP, it should be something like 192.168.1.X).
Once I established the fact that i could set it up and run it on my local network using WiFi, I expanded my horizons a bit (so to speak).
I have a linksys router, so I accessed the router admin panel and clicked on the "Applications & Gaming tab". Other routers will have similar tabs (may be named differently) but the idea is still the same - you want to open a port for a particular piece of software to communicate outside of your network.
In the Applications and Gaming panel, I entered a name "iPhone" with a port range of 5010 to 5010 (this is the default port for this script). Then you should see an IP address field - just enter your computer's local ip address (192.168.1.x) What this will do is send any outside request for port 5010 directly to your mac.
Now, you need to know what your IP address is (from your ISP, not your local IP). you can get this by going to www.whatismyip.org.
from your iphone, using edge (so that you are not on your local network) enter that ip address in safari with a colon and the port. <your ip address>:5010 as an example https://11.11.1.1:5010 (where 11.11.1.1 is your IP)
You may get a notice about the secure certificate, just ignore it. Then you should be ask for your user name and password. This is the user name and password for your computer. Just enter it and you should be in.
That is how I did it - I hope it works for you...

Wow! Thanks mlevack, that helped out alot. I finally got to take a few pictures via my mini's iSight while down the street on the EDGE network.
I can't wait to see what else they can add to this great little app!
