President Bush on Monday accused Syria and Iran of continuing to "harbor and assist terrorists," an act he called "completely unacceptable."

a transparent effort to stem the flow of criticism/questioning from the media, public, imo.

in september, the IAEA will release its report on iran's nuclear programs. i suspect the WH will use it as an excuse to "take a hard stance" and perhaps even invade. today's announcement serves to put the "iran is the bad guy" theme back into the minds of the public.

I read the same story on the BBC website. There is also a interesting story about Bush and Syria in the New Yorker at http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?030728fa_fact

It would seem that Bush and his boys want to expand the war regardless of the limited support for such a course. I'm hopeful that even Blair will be unable to go along with attacks against Iran or Syria.

gw definitely needs to deflect attention from his bogus claims about Iraq but I doubt that he'd wage war against Iran. It would be suicidal as the US is spread too thin as it is. The only thing it will do is show the world that his war on terror has failed.

Too bad for GW that the world knows he'd have a hard time backing up his 'tough' words because his army is stretched thin and morale is low. The lock up of our troops in Iraq for the next several years pretty much guarantees that he will have a very hard time embarking on another major military action. Unfortunately our enemies realize this too.

More money for military, bleeding infrastructure dry.
