For all you HDTV nuts, one of the more anticipated LCD televisions is close to ready for shipping according to engadget. Here is a nice set of photos (http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/11/samsung-announces-71-81-series-1080p-lcd-hdtvs/) from engadget along with a damn poor reporting job when compared to the article detailing this news in Twice.com (http://www.twice.com/article/CA6459449.html). It is great to get to press or the wire first, but engadget time and again either does a crappy job report or makes major mistakes, see apple stock value drop incident.
Anyway, the TV looks fantastic and has all the features I could want:
1080p
LED backlight
100,000:1 contrast ratio
10-bit processing
120Hz
3 x HDMI 1.3 ports, USB, ATSC
8ms response time
Prices, not cheap, but not outrageous at all, kind of like buying an Apple product.;) See Engadget and Twice for detailed pricing, but the LCDs range from $3,000 - $7,000 and measure between 40" and 57".
