You went to your HS reunion? I figured that it was one of those events that nobody ever showed up to. Meh, if I comes up, I think I would consider going, but I don't want to be surrounded by 10 or 12 people from high school, playing Poker or Twister or something because nobody decided to show up.
I think I would consider going back, but not unless my life was fabulous. If I have to spend some money and rent a high-end BMW for a day, then so be it. :D

Well I was there prior to 1998, and I've heard there have been some changes since I was there, but I thought it was a great place. Good class availability (unlike cal poly where I am now) better than average teachers, VERY interesting student body:p . Although most of the classes I took were to fulfill the GE req's for transfering to a UC/CSU, I did take a desktop publishing class (back when that was a big deal) there because I was working for a little print shop at the time. They have a good guaranteed admissions program that will automatically get you in to UCSC if your grades are decent if you are at all interested in staying in the area and getting a bachelors degree of some kind. Definetly check it out. I don't know if it still hold this title, but when I was there it was one of the top 5 community colleges in the state.

Both describe me well. But truthfully, I can't do much with a Bachelor of Science. Maybe I can be the most overqualified Administrative Assistant in history, but that's it. I'm getting my Masters (and my Ph.D, I hope) in order to be able to apply the material I learned earning my B.Sc. in the real world, if that makes any sense. :( Nobody lets you do anything in Science unless you have a Masters or/and Ph.D. Well, its true unless you're in Computer Science or something.

but computer science is more of a practical trade and/or techie skill for the workforce so any cs degree fromm AS to PhD, or any technical certification will find you a job easier than a bachelor's in some traditional science...so cs is not really a science per se like biology or physics
and a field such as software engineering is not considered a type of engineering like chemical or civil engineering
because the field of computer hardware and software is still relatively new, many do not know quite what to think of it or what it's potential is...certainly dot.com was a lesson in not really knowing what the heck was going on...and many people thought they knew exactly what was going on and they banked their life savings on it
...and because of the bust, many in my school will not consider being in any major related directly to computers...i tell people things will look good again and i get a lot of crazy looks...though things are slower than before, i still hang in there and remain a computer head...but i am not one who thinks they can make it completely on macs...but of course that would be nice if i never had to lay eyes on a wintel again:p :p

I'm going through the exact same thing. They have changed the name from Southwest Texas State University to Texas State University starting September 1st. I don't know what we are going to do for initials. There are already TSU's littering the state. I was just there a couple of weeks ago and made sure to buy up some stickers, keychains and t-shirts with the old SWT logos on them. Nothing that will last a long time, but long enough for me to get used to the new name.

San Diego High School. Class of 1976. The school still looked like this (first built in the early 20th century) when I first attended...then was sadly torn down and replaced with a windowless prison-like mistake. It was fondly referred to as "The Old Grey Castle" and had an ivy covered front and looked quite like a castle. The Beatles played in the old stadium, and Gregory Peck was one its many well known alumni.

wow, that is a really cool building with a great history...and it looks pretty well kept up
my high school was built in 1947 but when i got there in 78, it was in disrepair...since the town was slightly more well off than the surrounding cities in the area, our school got way less money to fix things up so after thirty years, there were broken windows and a lot of unsightly areas in the school
when our track team went to the poorer area high schools, we were shocked to see how new and updated everything looked...they had all weather composite tracks and brand, spanking new locker rooms
our boys track team got to use the other school's girls locker rooms during the meet, and those locker rooms were, of course, brand spanking new...i didn't mind, i would have actually very much have liked to have the other high school's girls give us a spanking in those brand spanking new locker rooms:p
i better shut up now...i am a baaad boy

did bill clinton go to any of those high schools? or hillary? i know hillary was born somewhere else before she came to arkansas, but i don't know how old she was when she came there
kind of like george w. bush, born somewhere east but moved to texas in his youth...and his father was also born on the east coast
come to think of it, besides clinton, who was the last real southern president/candidate actually born in the south??
he he...i live near a former military base which was here for decades before it moved out in 1994, so many of the local residents were born elsewhere...many of the soldiers did 3 or 4 years and when they got out, they stayed in town and many are still here
