Does stink a little of attaching your company to a currently successful product for cross promotion, if it wasn't Nintendo that is. They already have success with the Wii and don't need to publicise it further to boost sales.
I do agree though, Apple and Nintendo are two companies that have always innovated and enjoyed strong customer loyalty. I know even though I have only just recently switched properly to Macs, I have been a fan of Apple for differing reasons for quite some time. On the other hand, I have bought almost every Nintendo console since the NES, (NES, SNES, GB, GBP, N64, GC, DS and in the future Wii, still also thinking of GBA, VB and such as the FamiCom for the future to fill the gaps).
Others such as Sony also have brand loyalty, but not to the point that if they release something, armies of consumers will buy it regardless of price and features.
