Not sure where to put this, since it is PURE SPECULATION.
I think there may be another update to the Apple Tv coming, I say this because I am a teacher, and Apple does not discount the apple tv for education, but when I went to the Apple store in Ct and asked if there was a discount on It for teachers (knowing there wasn't) the Mac specialist went to the manager and they gave me an 8% discount on a 160G Apple Tv. I just have to wonder if this means they are trying like heck to get rid of what they have to make room for newer models coming out.

i think they were just being nice to you. either that, or they're trying to unload them. from what i understand, the :apple:TV is not selling that well; it makes sense, then, that they would give you a slight discount to encourage you to buy one.

I completely agree with evry thing you said. i dont think the apple tv is selling well because it dose not have that many features. also if they wont to sell more world wide they need to introduce movie downloads in itunes in other countries. Apple has ABANDONED the apple TV.:mad:

I would guess another reason its not selling so well in Europe is the lack of suitable video output. Compared to the US, support for YPbPr component input is much rarer in Europe.
I would like RGB component vido output which could be connected to many TV's via a three phono lead to SCART cable. It might be possible to do this with the existing AppleTV hardware via a software update...

Apple has ABANDONED the apple TV.
That is false. Apple just updated the software to 1.1 and has not abandoned Apple TV. You will see more updates/features in the future.

1.1 was months ago.

I believe that the 1.1 update was released on June 20th, 2007. Today is the 17th of July, meaning 1.1 was released almost ONE month ago.

I'm not sure that apple is in the business of reverse technology. (updating a product so that it accomodates old technology)
As for the guy who is upset that apple has abandoned Apple TV: Apple released an update to their software less than a month ago. How often do they need to update their software to give you a warm and fuzzy feeling that apple cares about apple tv? If it didn't "do enough" before these upgrades why did you decide to buy it in the first place. The unit performs as advertised.
