iPod Help! Trying to redeem code.

My wife is trying to use a gift certificate that I gave to her. The only problem is that whenever she tries to enter the code, Itunes closes. The message is: Itunes has an encountered unexpected problem.

So, what should we do?

Sounds like something is corrupted in there somewhere. Suggest you try repairing permissions and/or installing the latest version of iTunes.
