Unable to mount/burn CD/DVD

I have a mac mini and I am unable to get a blank CD/DVD to show up so that I can burn data to it. However I can burn data from iTunes to blank discs, it's just that when I insert a blank disc it asks for me to use iTunes and then asks if I want to burn anything.

I used to be able to insert a blank disc and then I would see it on the desktop as blank media and could burn data and or an iso to it without using iTunes. Is there a preference I have modified or is something wrong with the drive?

Try making a new burn folder in the Finder's File menu, then insert the blank disc. :)

Tried that. I was able to make the burn folder, but I can't burn it to the disc. What is going on? :mad:

Weird. Try burning from Disk Utility. Does it work there? Also, test it in another user account. :)
