So I need a new computer for school. I want the new imac that's coming out soon, but I also want leopard. I was wondering if it's better to get a machine pre-installed with leopard, or if upgrading is just as good, because I know that vista has issues when you want to upgrade.

Any fairly-recent Macintosh computer will upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" fine. I'm sure when you decide to get an iMac (maybe even when they are updated) it will run Leopard fine. You may have to buy Leopard and upgrade it yourself, but that's not a hard thing to do. :)

Upgrading the OS on the Mac would be easy, you shouldn't have any horror stories unless some software isn't compatible (which by then there may be updates), but you'll just have to wait and see if that will be an issue or not.

Upgrading is usually ok but I would recommend doing a fresh install. Everything always seems to run better and faster with fresh installs. Sometimes you get weird performance problems when you upgrade.
