at work i'm making an online personnel listing. i needed an icon of a folder with a person in it to represent a group of people. i used the "Users" folder icon from Mac OS X as well as the generic blue folder icon.
is this legal? or should i try to make my own icons?

Are they copyrighted? Probably.
Will Apple care if you use them? Probably not.

Only if you use then as a marketing tool for revenue without seeking permission and giving proper credit. Or attempting to trademark them for yourself.

well, it's a school district web site, so no money will be made off of the site. the apple folder icons are better than anything i could make, so hopefully no one will mind.
