Most of you have probably never heard of this holiday. It is a Utah holiday that honors the pioneers for crossing the plains and settling Utah. We have a parade and fireworks at night. So to any one who cares, happy 24th!

I was in Salt Lake City a few months ago. Looks like I picked the wrong time to go! :(
Does this holiday have a name or is it just "24th of July"? Although people commonly say "Fourth of July" to refer to the U.S. Independence Day holiday, it does have that real name too. There's also "Cinco de Mayo".

You're right, everyone calls it the 24th, but it is really the "Days of 47" reffering to when the pioneers got here.
And don't worry about not coming now, it's not that great. In fact, this upcoming holiday spawned an article on my site about how I hate holidays.

Well, now you've got me whistling the song '39 (http://www.queenwords.com/lyrics/songs/sng04_05.shtml) by Queen. Lyrics: "In the year of '39 assembled here the volunteers, in the days when the lands were few...".

Well, I'm off to see the fireworks, so I'll see everyone tomorrow. And don't forget what's important about the 25th of July....I't Friday! So have a good weekend.
