Rmoving Updates

How do you remove apple updates? It's the audio update... Control panel? Im a new mac user..

What you do is an archive and install (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120), that will put the systems setting back to how they came when you first received the computer. Then install all the updates except the one that you don't want.

Can I just uninstall the updates I dont wont imstead of losing my programs like photoshop, dreamwear etc/?

Not really. Why do you want to remove the update? If you read through the handsome and well hung iBookG4user's link you'll see that an Archive & Install should retain all your apps, files and settings. It's really quite easy to do. Having said that, it might be overkill depending on what you're wanting to achieve. :)

Cause it's like I hear a real real low humming noise since i installed the update.. is a noise common? it sound like ummmmm its real low.. is that cmmon? just wanaa uninstall the update.

Yeah, there've been a few complaints about humming but I associated it with the 10.4.10 update rather than the audio update. Nevertheless, there seem to be a few tricks that have worked for some people. What sort of Mac do you have? Is your screen at full brightness? :)

yes i install the 10.4.10 update it said it was required.. man I really wih i would ave never updayed anything. the MBP Sr 2.2ghz yes i think its fully bright.. can i just remove it?

Nah, it's not that simple. These are system updates so instead of removing them, try that Archive & Install method. Make sure everything's backed up beforehand, but a backup shouldn't technically be necessary. Update to 10.4.9 once the reinstall is complete and you should be set. :)

ok --will i lose photoshop and dreamweaver? well i just reinstall it if so.
what i just delete the old folder to save hd space?
which updates to get? question I should hear any noise or breathing-and low low humming on a new srp mbp ?

In theory, you shouldn't lose any apps. OSX keeps the system folder separate to the user folder and even the apps folder. Having said that, sometimes an app might not work after an Archive & Install but a reinstall of the app usually fixes that, or even trashing the app's preference file...

Also, you can delete the old version of your System Folder once the new system is up and running. :)

It should be a folder called Previous System, or something similar to that. That's all you have to delete.

It should be on the topmost level of your hard drive, when you click on "Macintosh HD".

When I install disc1 do i click on mac osx and bundle installs or optional installs?
