I carry my iPhone in my pocket naked. When reaching into my pocket to get it out, the headphone jack is so sharp that it sliced a pretty good chunk off of my middle finger.

I haven't held one yet, I didn't know it was that sharp. Hope it heals fast!

How can a small chunk of your middle finger being cut off result in your death?

I thought the headphone jack was recessed? Is it the metal casing surrounding it that has some flash on it or hasn't been filleted enough?

I don't see or feel that the headphone jack is sharp:confused:

My iPhone headphone jack isn't sharp, I don't see how it could cut part of your finger off.

Wow....I can't even begin to understand how this would happen..

actually if you run your finger over the jack and down towards the back of the phone the rear edge of the hole is somewhat sharp.

I can see how the OP could have caught his finger on it.

I carry mine head-down, screen facing in so when I take it out to answer a call, it's in the proper orientation. And I still have all my fingers...

That's my question. I would think other things might be at risk if you're naked.

I don't believe this for a second. My iPhone headphone jack isn't sharp enough to cut cheese, much less a finger.

I believe the OP. Just minutes ago, opening my MBP as I sat on the deck in shorts with it on my lap, the lid caught the fleshy part* of my inner thigh as I opened it and gave me quite a pinch.

I think Apple is out to maim its customers. I blame Ive. Sure, the designs are pretty. They're also deadly, and I wish more people would mention this.

* which, nowadays, is any part of my body.

I've been carrying my iPhone around in my pocket almost every day since day one and it's never done that to me.

If it really concerns the OP I'll gladly take it.:)

Here's an idea:

Flip the iPhone where the headphone port is facing the bottom of your pocket. ;)

Please be kidding. It's okay. Sometimes my sarcasm detector doesn't function quite right, either. It helps if you're familiar w/ jsw (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=184011)'s posting style.

Hate when that happens...a quick restart normally does the trick for me.

Ok I get it now, He's naked and the only stitch of clothing that he managed to save from the herd of people attacking him to take his iPhone, was the pocket that his iPhone was left in.

If Apple keeps trying to kill all over their users it isn't going to help them out with their market share. :( You can't have good market share with dead users :(

I always knew the iPhone was evil.

A phone which is taking users' fingers off, one by one.
A phone with one button.

Coincidence? I think not!

Man I HATE that word. Most overused adjective in the English language.

I just got to play with one this last Saturday (a new Apple store opened just down the road from me). Come to think of it, I'm almost certain this thing tried to hermetically attach itself to my hand as I was using it... :D

I would think that it was more painful having a pocket sewn to your naked body than just slicing your finger on the headphone jack....unless you are a kangaroo.:p

I think you have worked out the master plan of the iPhone. Wonder if the iPhone is Three-Laws compliant.

i think he meant that the iPhone was naked (no cover) if he was then i would doubt his sanity pockest and nakedness don't mix well... i can prove it i have scars!
