Hi folks,

my Mac Pro doesnt boot anymore. :(
When I switch it on I can hear the HDD spinning up but that is it. The screens remains black. I connected the screen to an existing Powerbook to make sure that one is working.

All the other parts seem to work normally. Like the fan blows etc. But the system does not boot. I cannot even open the optical drive. I think the keyboard does not even get power.

What can I do. Or even better, what is the problem here?

Have you tried everything here (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300537)?

I had similar symptoms once. Reseating the riser boards for the RAM did the trick.

I had a similar problem as well. I ended up just removing the power cable from the back of the machine for a minute, plugged it back in, and all was well.

I was happy it was a simple fix :)

As someone mentioned above, re-seat everything: PCIe cards, RAM, ram risers, IDE cables.

It's very common for something to come loose, especially after moving the computer.

The mac pro also has a cuda switch (though they call it something else) which can help on occasion.

Like above, could be just a loose connection or bad RAM.
