I have some knowledge of web design but I have no idea what I have here. Through a friend of a friend I was asked to take a look at this and see what they created.

In IE it outputs they way that they want it too but in other other browser (like firefox and safari) it doesn't. Firefox makes everything into a .gif locally on my computer, outputs crap when it gets put on a server)

So my question is, why is firefox doing that and what answer should I give this person? Complete redesign so it can output correctly? I know it doesn't look pretty but just getting it up on the web is my main concern for them now.

I have access to Frontpage, which I guess this site was created in.

That's your problem there: Front Page.

Notorious and a horrible program to begin with.

If you just need to get a site up for them, better to start from scratch, use iWeb if you have to, or better yet a template and edit it in another editor, dreamweaver maybe, but not Front page.

I've never used frontpage before (thank god or the flying spaghetti monster)....what on earth is all that non-sense in the source code of that page?

oh dear god it burns, the code burns my eyes.....

I do not think I have ever seen messier code.....

make a new one, learn html and css....

or use a template

or hire a professional (like me) to do it for you......

Fire! and lots of it!

But yeah, scrap that puppy and start again, and I mean from scratch. Plan out a site map, do up some designs and go from there. Nothing, with the possible exception of the content is worth salvaging here.

Another reason why Frontpage is rubbish.

Yeah, start that over. Really quick. That website is about 5 generations behind on style. There isn't much to salvage at all.
