Can OS X be virtualized?

I know that Windows XP and Linux can be virtualized on Mac OS X, but has anybody run Mac OS X in a virtual environment for testing purposes?

Can I use a Mac OS X install disc and install under a virtualization software like VM or others?

There's a project called Mac-on-Linux (and a sister Mac-on-Mac) that tries to do this... it's pretty limited, though -- it only works on G4 and below PPCs and it doesn't fully support Tiger. Some people claim to hack OS X to run virtualized in VMWare... like this:

What is preventing Mac OS X virtualization?

It's running on the same Mac hardware.

On a separate note, why I can't install Mac OS X on a x86 PC considering Macs are using the Intel chips?

That would be (a) because Apple doesn't want you to and (b) because Apple doesn't want you to.
