+1 to M$.

Today the studio confirmed a much-speculated piece of information about the campaign mode, stating on its Web site that it will indeed support online cooperative multiplayer for up to four players.

Since there's only one Master Chief, the four-player online campaign mode will include three more playable characters: Halo 2's Arbiter and two of his fellow Covenant Elites. All characters will play identically, but the Elites will wield carbines instead of battle rifles. That's an awful lot of firepower to throw into the same situations as the game's single-player campaign, but Bungie says it's addressing the various gameplay issues it creates.

:)

I'm really hoping they have 4 player Lan co-op, since 4 player split screen would get crowded and online would just be too far apart from other players.

4 players = hot.

Just for you Jimbo

The online cooperative mode will support the game's film-saving functions, but gamers will not be able to join in midgame. Players will have to congregate in a lobby first, from which point they can pick up the campaign at any saved checkpoint. As in previous games, players will have the option of cooperative split-screen play, but it is limited to two people. However, once matched, a pair can complete its foursome through system link or by going online.

I like the explanation of the addon non Spartans. If any are curious as to where linda, Kelly, will & the other remaining Spartans are - they are with dr. Halsey when they jumped through the portal when halo was activated at the end of Halo2 (Ghosts of Onyx)

DON'T TELL ME!!! I AM STILL READING THE BOOKS!! J/k, I am reading the books but I don't really care if I find out too much.

I'm surprised how many people I have talked to or comments I have read online where people wonder what character people will play as when joining a co-op game. Some say you will play as the arbitar, or specific Spartans or just plan humans. I don't really understand why it matters, in Halo 1 and 2 when you played with a second person they were also Master Chief. I never had a problem with it just being a second Spartan and not some specific character, the enjoyment for me came from playing the campaign with a friend, usually on legendary.

What I wonder is if they did it Gears of War style or not (meaning the other members are built into the game as members of the story not just there all of a sudden). It sounds like they didn't which kinda sucks but I guess you take what they give ;)

If the single player is fun, then great. But Halo is for the online action.

I don't really care for single player halo. If i do end up buying it, it will be for the online multiplayer. For online co-op, i'd rather play COD.

BTW, has online co-op for COD4 been confirmed yet?

Maybe the system can't handle running 4 single player campaign at a time?
