I'm trying to convert a VOB file into something FCP 5.1 friendly. I'm using MPEG Streamclip to do this. I've managed to convert the VOB file using the MPEG and MP2 audio setting. It plays on QuickTime just fine, but the audio doesn't work in FCP. What format should I have used?

just convert it to dv in mpegstreamclip

Since your using FCP, I'd recommend converting it to whatever matches your FCP Sequence settings. For example, if your FCP Sequence is DV/DVCPro NTSC, then export for that from MPEG Streamclip.
I'd only recommend the .dv codec if you're using iMovie.
